Totally worth it.
While im not going to say the games are better (Because technically they aren't) i will say that i had more FUN with these games than the God of War series. Play it, you won't regret it.
Oh, and for my money Darksiders 1 has one of the best (in my top 5 strong contender for number one) endings in all of videogames.
