i would be interested in the atlus stuff but i don't actually own a PSP or PSV as i got the original DS and now i have the 3DS

I hope that PS4 rumour was completley false, no backwards compatibility and no used games sales would be a collosal pain in the ass.

agreed. I will be so pissed if any of the next-gen systems pulls that shit, especially if they end up doing some downloadable model, that's just a full on douche move.

It won't stop me from playing videogames, it would just change the videogames I play. If console gaming takes this turn I'll probably end up being a PC gamer. I had enough of the llimited backwards compatibilty of the 360, and the either you have it or not compatibility of the PS3 for it to happen for another generation. And the econemy has made it so as used games end up being the best way to try out games you wouldn't have thought. If this happens I would only be getting Resident Evil and Metal Gear games, because I wouldn't want to pay full price for any other games in case they ended up being rubbish and you couldn't return them.

Agreed. If any company does that, you can only expect to have their old games, and many of which are total shit, up for re download. It won't be so bad if you can get a free download in the future if you insert the disc, but seeing as how disc drives will pretty much become obsolete in the next generation, that also seems unlikely to happen.

I don't get the PS4 thing... If your system breaks or lose memory card data does that mean you have to pay a pass to play it again?

Not that I really care, but BlOps2 is essentially taking out every fun mode it had and is instead replacing it with the only style of game play that is disliked, nay HATED by pretty much every gamer?

Actually Jared it does make sense why it plays Blu-Rays but can't play PS3 games. The current rumor is that Sony is ditching the Cell because of it's un-user friendliness for programming in favor of a CPU from AMD, and in doing so tapping AMD's graphics division ATI. This would give us the visuals and the resolution promised but then poses the problem with backward compatibility as the Cell and AMD's current line of CPUs could not be more different in how they are built. The counter to this is of course, is using software emulation to make PS3 games play on the PS4, but seeing how well Sony handled their pathetic attempt to do software emulation for PS2 games on the 1st generation 80GB PS3 this may not come to pass.
They're a hardware company, software has never been their jam, and now because of that they could very well be in a jam bigger than anyone expected.
