Oh come on, don't go torturing yourself. You KNOW they're going to!. =P
If the game has Cole McGrath and Jak, I am sold!
To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about Sony Smash. I think its neat how Sony is going to have a Playstation version of Smash Bros on its console, but I really don't know/care about the current roster. It doesn't appeal to me yet. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.
I will hope that Sony adds Cole McGrath
To be fair, the Wii remotes use infrared technology, and didn't work very well until a peripheral came out years later. The Move uses motion capture technology that worked pretty damn well without requiring an accessory to make it "sense movements" better :p Did they decide to get into the motion sensor game because the Wii was doing well? Yes, but they also did it better.
Or hey! How about that EyeToy the PlayStation 2 had several years before the Wii came out. You know, that EyeToy that sensed motion using a proprietary camera? Sorta like the PlayStation Move does?
And I'm not saying that they didn't rip it off. I even said they tweaked it into their own concept and "but no matter what people are going to liken it to Smash Bros."
Is this what we do now? Complain that all companies do is rip each other off? Even when we get awesome technology or games out of it? Be happy~
The only thing right off the bat I saw, was that I was mistakening the gameplay footage for being Smash Bros. up until I realized that was the Fat Princess, and not Princess Peach I was looking at.
It is just like when Sony came up with the PlayStation Move, and said "Oh, it's something we were working on all on our own, and we're not copying the Wii remote at all! See? It has a ball on the end!"
No matter how much they may have made the gameplay different in thier own way, the first thing anyone who sees the game is going to notice is that it looks exactly like Smash Bros.
Dorkly gonna get pwned.
They needed more interesting exclusive characters :p
Right off the bat the game has a somewhat different playstyle than the concept it's copying.
Smash Bros is a "king of the hill" sort of game with racking up damage on enemies and launching them off the level. All-Stars has no vitality/damage meter, so instead you're beating on each other to fill your Super meter up to three levels, with each level being able to knock out more opponents at once. KOs score you points, and getting KO'd depletes your points.
Just that simple difference in mechanics makes it different than Smash, and then All-Stars just ends up being another interesting "all star character" fighting game like Dissidia, Smash Bros, or Marvel/SNK/Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Of course, it's still pretty close to Smash's formula, and that's how people are going to be describing it, but I'd say it's different enough :p
And hey, if you're going to copy a concept, why not copy one that has extremely high praise and appeal?
Neat!~ Now I just have to make sure if I'm working that day or not.
It is one thing to say that Sony is trying to make their own "Smash Bros." game, but this . . . How did that pitch meeting go?
"You see, we're going to have our own game like Smash Bros., only it's going to look AWESOME!"
"Um, it looks just like Smash Bros."
"Yeah, but it now looks RADICAL!"
"No, I mean it looks EXACTLY like Smash Bros. Like you took the game, and just put Sony game character models over the Smash Bros. cast."
"Well, now it looks AWESOME!"
". . . Yeah, because it looks exactly like Smash Bros."
Gee, what next Sony? Will the PS4 have a touchscreen controller? A PlayStation Vita with two screens, and 3D imaging? Oh wait; you will ask for a new God of War game to be made that features Kratos in a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer, where he fights a fire-breating spiked turtle dragon at the end of every six levels.
"Now all they need is Super Sony Kart." No! Just... no! If they did that, then they OFFICIALLY have no shame.
And it only took Sony, what, 13 years.
Too true. It's easy to say Super Smash Brothers and shorten it. Playstation All-stars Battle Royale is just effed up.
I really hope that Rayman Legends is on more than just the Wii U. I want to play it but I don't want to have to buy a Wii U to do so (and I won't be buying a Wii U any time after it is released, unless they SERIOUSLY impress me at E3 this year).
Definitely looking forward to the Playtation All-Stars game. I'm just hoping it turns out good. I hope it is enough like Smash Bros. that it's a lot of fun, but different enough that it's SOMEWHAT unique.
As for people bitching about not enough popular/good Sony franchises with good characters.... Just.... No.... Hell, they could stick all the cast from Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank in to make up the majority of the characters, and I'd still buy it. Actually, I'd be much more likely to buy it if that were the case....
Now all they need is Super Sony Kart. Or something.
game concept of course is awesome i mean its based on smash bros. but really sony change the name of the game i really hate it
Damn it! every time I hear you talk about SA V Dorkly, it just reminds me that I can't go! I swear I'll meet you guys one of these days!
Kick some ass Jared!!
Figures, Nintendo does something awesome, and Sony has to blatantly rip it off.
