Just make Mirror's Edge 2 a Sidescroller. Think Canabalt(the IOS/PSN Mini/Chrome game) crossed with any other good sidescroller. Focus on fast movement and include the parkour elements to full effect. Managing inside buildings can be done, if clever enough with perspective; and include branching paths in a way that doesn't slow momentum. Somebody can make this.
I liked the original, but for a game that marketed itself on momentum and speed runs in just about every level it just didn't work for me. Especially when an even small chunk involved the character slowly crawling through air ducts.
