Okay, it's not exactly 240p, but pretty much. I'm getting this straight from Nintendo's own website: http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/features/#/1
Before you get too excited, the 800 pixels wide measurement isn't ENTIRELY correct. I mean, it is, but they're half-size pixels, so even though it displays 800x240, the human eye only registers it as 400x240, so in 3D mode, each eye sees 400x240 which results in 800x240 because you see 400 half-size pixels with each eye, if that makes any sense. For reference, 240p is 320x240 pixels.
As for your FACT.... In some aspects, the Wii is more powerful, and in others, the 3DS is more powerful. Overall though, you have to take into account that the differences between them are relative to the size of the systems.
The only reasons the 3DS can play games such as Metal Gear Solid 3 and One Piece: Unlimited Cruise is because first of all, they're ported to the hardware. It's not as simple as taking the game and just throwing it on a different device. They're optimised for the "new" hardware. Second of all, the screen, as well as the resolution, is far smaller than that of a regular TV that you'd be playing Wii or PS2 on, and so it requires a lot less power to produce.
Similar to the Vita - if it was running the same resolution and on the same size screen as a PS3, it'd crap itself trying to play any games. It can look as great as it does and be as powerful as it is because it's outputting on a much smaller screen with a lower resolution.
However, because of the crappier resolution and the overall smaller screen, the 3DS has enough power left over to put behind some extras, like more advanced shaders. It also (apparently) has slightly more RAM than the Wii, but the difference between the two isn't very significant and again, relative to their size, it doesn't mean much.
OK just because we cant seem to agree on the resolution WHEREare you getting this graphics resolution? I wat sources. Because i know for a FACT that the 3DS is much more powerful than a Wii in almost every aspect, including graphics.
Is it going to be a handheld anymore?
Sure, it's my opinion, but the black hinge with the big blob of colour definitely looks tacky to me. If they fixed the problem with dust and fingerprints annihilating the screen then great, but we don't know if they have fixed that or not (the screen itself is part of the problem).
As for the power cord, not all people are going to be buying a new version. Many people might be buying their first 3DS. Those power cords are cheap as chips to manufacture. Leaving them out is stupid. Does Nintendo (or anyone else) have hard evidence that the people who will buy a 3DS XL already own an original 3DS? Anyway, if I wanted to own both, I'd want two power cords. What if I wanted to charge them both at the same time? I couldn't unless I wasted money on another cord.
Finally, I'm sorry, but you are COMPLETELY wrong. The 3DS screen has a 240p resolution. That is a fact, end of story. It doesn't even have the power to output anything near 720p. There's also no possible way it has a better resolution than the Wii. The Wii can do 480p (or 576p if you're playing PAL games/on a PAL system/PAL TV/PAL whatever) in a 4:3 ratio, as well as a widescreen 16:9 ratio. The 3DS has a 16:9 ratio with a 240p resolution.
Oh, and for the record, I know what a revision is. This is a revision, no matter how minor.
My Sega Game Gear didnt come with a power adapter :(
I have no problem with the current 3DS size. Its big enough. I wouldn't mind the 3DS XL if it had better resolution and a second circle pad. But NO, they just made a bigger version of the 3DS.
A new bigger 3DS but NO SECOND ANALOG PAD? What, do they expect people to pay for a peripheral for THIS ONE TOO? How big are they thinking of making them? Additionally, the two-tone makes it look like a cheap 80s Toyota Corolla.
And it's even harder to fit it in your pocket!
I don't get people saying they may purchase the new 3DS when they already have one. A 3DS with worse pixel quality... Yay.
kicking Lukario's ass as Leomon whould make my life commplete
Yes!!!!! I'd love to see Digimon in Smash Brothers. Watching Agumon Warp Digivolve to WarGreymon for his final smash and own Jigglypuff's ass into oblivion
oh god, digimon vs pokemon. Its like mario vs sonic but much wider
Welp, lets get this disection started! You thinking it may look tacky, well I cant really hit you for that, but thats your opinion, I actually some what like the new design because the finger prints from trying to get the dust off the screen is no longer a problem. Nintendo assuming that the people who are going to buy this already thought the original was a pretty safe assumption, that's what happened witht he DSi XL, and so really it would be a waste of money for them to sell the power cord with it (though I will say they really should have put it in anyway, I understand what they were thinking.) Now this second paragraph is more semantics A revision in design is revising the design, making a noticible and considerable change in the hardware. There is very LITTLE change in the hardware. It's just a bigger screen, not much of a revision. Now this is you just plain exagerating. The 3DS has more resolution than the Wii, given the Wii kind of looks like crap it's still on bigger screens with higher resolution and still manages to look good. The 3DS is more around 720p and it will look fine. Don't hate, love and tolerate.
How About Shulk (Xenoblade) vs KOS-MOS (Xenosaga)
I still think the 3DS XL looks like crap. People moaned about the original design (which I have and still like a lot), but this new design looks so tacky. Also, they announced today that the European version of the 3DS XL won't have a power adapter either. So only America is getting a damn cable with their 3DS XL systems. Nintendo thinks that their fans already have the previous console. That's what they said. IDIOTS.
Furthermore, Miyamoto's statement about not needing a 3DS revision ever was total bullshit. He's pretty high-up in Nintendo. Of course he knew that the 3DS XL/LL was coming. That statement is still annoying.
Oh, and for one last nail in the coffin, anyone who thinks the better screens are bigger.... Well, granted, they managed to make the DSi XL look pretty decent, but the 3DS, with it's 240p 3D screen..... It has a crap resolution. Now increased that by 90% and it's going to look awful.
I waited and now my giant man hands will get an appropriately sized 3DS.. this day is good :'D
If they went through the trouble of making a new 3ds model, why didn't they include a 2nd circle pad?
Digimon vs Pokemon........ THE WORLD ISN'T READY FOR THAT!!
