It's not canon?! Wow...a lot of fans are going to be disappointed. And I was kind of looking forward to finding out what happened to Raiden in the original storyline...not several years after.

Well its not part of the Metal Gear Solid storyline, that doesnt mean that its not canonical, it could just have nothing to do with the metal gear solid story, just a side-mission for Jack.
