Aliens are higher on the food chain than the Colonial Marines, and Gearbox wants you to remember that.
After sitting down with Aliens: Colonial Marines' Senior Producer, Brian Burleson, Sean found out that the Aliens' chief weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency. Brian also dropped some more knowledge about the single-player campaign and what will make it so good. There was no mention of comfy chairs.
Sean seriously you're the best!
Awesome interview. This has been my most anticipated game since around 2009 when Game Informer made it their cover story. I've had the PC version preordered for a while now and I just can't wait to play it.
Nice interview. Informative.
Of course there's gonna be a females, and they all gonna be PC stereotypically stronger than men. With zero depth.
As Mr. Burleson pointed out, the Alien movies featured motifs of motherhood and the ferocious protective instinct that accompanies it; these are true female themes. The prominence of characters like Ellen Ripley and Jenette Vasquez speaks for itself.
That's all the reason Gearbox needed for offering female marines, in my opinion. When it makes no difference in the quality of a game, why should any developer feel obligated to insert a playable female character at all? Are they somehow morally deficient if they don't?
Great interview, Sean.
Really looking forward to this game, I've been a fan of the movies since I was five.
What’s with the Starcraft music in the background? Anyway it’s funny to see all that acid spraying around plus Iron sights.
Very in-depth interview! I enjoyed listening to Mr. Burlesons' answers, and I now await the release of the game with much more excitement.
This video is helping me want to get this day one for pc. But I want to keep boycotting Sega because o their flagging issues on youtube. "Confliction!"
