Whoa, four buckets? I'm not sure who has the better video: Craig or the "lads" for Achievement Hunter who did trash barrels (the 55 gallon kind).
@Wolf-man451 The idea behind doing a challenge to raise awareness is that the challenge itself (the entertaining part) draws people in, after which viewers are tangentially exposed to information about ALS or, at the very least, it is brought forefront to their attention. People are much more likely to jump on the bandwagon and donate to the cause when they see that it's a "current issue" that people are actively caring about. The stipulation that you either donate or do the challenge is basically a way of saying "It's okay if you don't have the money to donate, you can still help out!"
Also, most ice bucket videos I've seen so far do in fact give an explanation about ALS as well as sources where you can donate.
@dragonblade_94 I think what TheSwedishGamer is trying to say is that if all you do is pour ice water on your head and that's it then it doesn't really help anything. I understand that it is to raise awareness but if I didn't google ALS then watching one of the random videos on facebook would leave me with no more knowledge about the disease then when I started. I think that people should give a short explanation of what ALS is before doing it. I think that everyone who does it should donate, if you cannot that I understand but if you are just throwing ice water on your head that doesn't really help anyone.
As a cancer patient if people were doing this for cancer research instead of ALS just seeing people throwing water on their heads wouldn't make me feel better but if I knew that they were also donating to cancer research then I understand. I'm not saying that the ice bucket challenge is bad, I'm just saying that if people are going to do it then they should donate what they can.
Also, Craig thank you for donating to this cause. I do not know anyone personally with ALS but as a cancer patient I know what it is like to have to deal with a horrible disease and people like you are why there is so much better treatment plans for diseases and why there are so many survivors today.
@TheSwedishGamer That's supposed to be the point though; if you're challenged, you're supposed to either donate or record yourself doing the challenge to raise awareness. Most high profile cases just end up doing both anyway.
I also don't fully understand why exactly a lot of people have a big problem with the challenge for wasting water. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash them or say they have no point, but if worried about water conservation isn't this challenge kinda low on the priority scale compared to other sources of freshwater waste?
Four buckets of icy water. For the next few days he is really going to be *puts on sunglasses* a Stuttering Craig.
I'm glad you guys actually donated. For what I understand, most people just do the challenge. Sure, raising awareness is great and all but there's no point of wasting precious water if you're not going to send some money.
You're a stud Craig :)
i was going to do this and challenge all of screwattack
YEAH. GET READY, PARKER. >=]
I'm pretty sure that's the second person I've seen challenge Mega64
Any chance you guys could post the videos of these guys accepting?
Nice Rick Flair 'wooo' at the end. Thumbs up for Craig.
