Live SGC Mini-Marathon Stream this Tuesday!
To kickstart our SGC Kickstarter, we're doing a mini-marathon of streaming this Tuesday from Noon to Midnight (Central time)!
Want to help bring SGC back? Check out our kickstarter here - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/screwattack/let-throw-the-best-gaming-party-in-the-world-again
So 35k+ in less then a week. Your foresight isn't looking to good right now.
Im still waiting on Chad to accept or decline my challenge. If he accepts I'll donate to the kickstarter.
Sweet! I'll finally be able to watch a live show from Korea! :D
Really excited for this, but I'm pretty busy tomorrow; think I'll be watching a lot of it archived. :/
I'm so gonna watch this (even though it comes here at 8pm till 8am, hehe...). I'm excited, sad and pissed, because even though I've been waiting this for two years, there's no way I could make it there... Why does everything have to be so f-in expensive...TAT
Im so excited
Looks like I'm going to have a busy day tomorrow...
You better play some teletubbies during that marathon.
If the marathon is like the 6th year anniversary marathon, this could raise a good bit of money. And I know they just had one literally 2 days ago, but since it is one of Screwattack's most popular shows, why not say "If we can raise (insert amount here) during the marathon, there would be an after dark at 10 central time" since it is a huge screwattack event, and they could play one of the N64 titles, seeing as those episodes would last about 2 hours, it would end at about 12 am. Chad and Jared are likely to be there since they are in a lot of shows, and Sam will hopefully be there. Not trying to look like one of those people who complains when there isnt a new AD for a couple weeks, and I'm not diehard fan of it, though I do find them funny, and i do watch them live, but seeing as they are huge, and the amount of fans that gather to watch it, it would raise some more money.
Thank you for your feedback. I agree the AVGN movie would definitely boost support for SGC but then Craig would have to pay AVGN and unless they greatly exceed the $100,000 I don' t think he would want to do that. You do have a good point.
I am at the point of my life where I no longer worry about living paycheck to paycheck and this website has young members so maybe more people will come forward as they get paid over the weekend. I don't think they will be kicking themselves because there is still plenty of time to get in on the action and Craig has never turned down anyone that wants to give him money.
Since Craig pulled this off before he doesn't need a kickstarter to do SGC, he just wants to be guaranteed $100,000 not to mention the merchandise they will sell and the $30 registration fee. I do know that free registration is a possibility but in order for that to happen Craig will need "surprise surprise" more money.
If Craig is smart about this and keeps the costs down "he may already have planned it" he may only need $50,000 so even if the $100,000 goal is not reached he could be the hero and say he cares about us so much that SGC will happen anyway. Stuttering "Money Bags" Craig keep this in mind for future projects. My ideas are gold.
Obviously he won't do it unless he makes a profit. I don't get why a for-profit company would ask people to donate. It's like begging and how stupid is it to get my name on a web page so I know how great of a person I am. You would be a better person if you donate to feed hungry people. It's not like they aren't going to charge people for entry and not sell merchandise that you need another $100,000 on top of that too!
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 30 days.
i dont think that kickstarters were that trustworthy nor reliable at the time of the first sgc another thing is the economy wasnt as f**ked as it is now yes the $100,000 is a semi pipe dream but it could happen also factor in that some people wont donate until there next payday most have spent any extra cash on crap but now that sgc has been announced are kicking themselves in the ass for not having the finances but i predict a decent spike come the next pay period time will tell btw james said the nerd film might not be done until 2013 so what if he later announces a live premiere at sgc would more ppl be interested then? see theirs just too many variables right now to just start crapping on every one with so called truth and logistics for now sit back and enjoy the ride btw this is my personal opinion so it means nothing to anyone else i just choose to display it publicly
I agree with g1 SierraFoxtrot that the $100,000 goal will not be reached. This worked for the AVGN but this entire website is not as popular as the AVGN and wouldn't be where it is today if not for the hard work of AVGN and Handsome Tom. If you take away the $5,000 donation then you are only around $7,000 which doesn't say a lot. To put a positive spin on this it shows the community cares more about charity since over $10,000 was raised.
Why wasn't there a kick starter for the first SGC? Did Craig not make enough money for the first SGC? That would be my best guess. Now since it is not profitable enough for Craig he won't do it unless he knows for sure that there will be a huge payday. I am under the assumption a lot of people supported and attended the first SGC so Craig can't use that as an excuse. It almost seems like he doesn't really want to do it unless he gets the $100,000 minus expenses. After expenses his cut has got to be around %30 - %40 of that which isn't bad for 3 days of work plus planning preparation help from the screwattack crew. I hope the screwattack crew is well compensated for this as this website would be nothing without them.
If people are saying that travel is a big issue for them then odds are they will not donate. Besides tax reasons who donates to a company that is for-profit. Did people donate to get the certificate that tells them how awesome they are (lol)? This community is continually growing and I only see 120+ people donated. Not a good sign.
YEEESSS but at teh same time NOOOO because I'm broke and can't fund right now, ubt I will hopefully beable to make the trek to SGC when it goes up, and any money earned, will go to a fund to fund this epic slumber party of a convention.
I have a little left from returning from Brocon.I might donate
I have an important midterm exam and some assignments that day, but I might try to go on for some parts of it.
Put a link to the kickstarter here!
Will there be some sort of similar charity-type thing like the one in the 2nd 24-hour live stream?
I am in awe of Chad's hair. It is a mighty manly mane.
PS: TETRIS WAR! Please? Pretty please with sugar on?
