PAX 12 - Phantasy Star Online 2 Interview
Ken Ogasawara of Sega of America gives me the rundown on Phantasy Star Online 2, answering all of my very important questions.
You can also watch almost 10 minutes of raw gameplay by clicking here!
Such a nice and humble guy.
Hmm, well, that sucks. Still, at least it'll be easier to play it online if the servers ever go down, unlike the Dreamcast (which is possible to play online with still, but it's such a pain to set it up).
I've been playing this for a few weeks now and I'm really liking it. Really liking the gameplay.
Just letting everyone here know that its already out lol .... its been out since july 4 i believe the japanese version.. i played it and love it. i think ill just stick with the japanese one there is a english patch out and there are enough guides out for the game to play it without any troubles with translations :)
EEEEeeeeeeeeeeee!!! This'll be so awesome! I remember on my main(for GameCube) having over 700 hrs logged, that's 1 guy out of many, but seriously over 100 hrs of it I was passed out from playing soooo friggin' long. I reeally hope this 1 does the same! :D
wow! im exited for this! nice! :D
One thing Ken did not mention is, if you don't get a premium(however you spell it) membership, which is(I think) a monthly fee, you can't trade with other players. But besides that, I love the game! (I have the Jap version) You won't be able to sleep from how addicting it is!
If I remember right: The PC version doesn't have an offline mode(I could be wrong), but who knows maybe the Vita version will.
"We're Sega, we want a good action game" ...hehe nice :-D
I loved Phantasy Star Online for the Game Cube. I am so going to play this. I have found my second MMO to play. :)
Phantasy Star Online was sadly out of my reach, i didnt own a Dreamcast and i got internet only for about 5 years. I have heard many great things about the first one and i really cant wait to see for myself what all the fuss is about.
I am so looking forward to this. So. So. SO MUCH!!!
I am SO excited for this game. It sounds (and looks) like it's going to be bloody amazing. I also can't wait to get ahold of the Vita and iOS versions. I hope it supports Mac as well (I mean, I have both Mac and Windows, but if I can play it on my MacBook on the go, then that'd also be awesome). I also hope it has an offline mode, like the original (so that you CAN play it on the go).
You guys should have a interviews page instead of lumping everything into random awesomeness.
SOOOOOO excited for this game. I still have the first one on my gamecube <3
o_O I think I just filled the cup...
@1:45 Jared gets a boner. I got one that time too.
man can't wait for the Us version of the game to come out! This game is going to be amazing!
I've been playing this ever since it came out in Japan. It's truly an amazing game with a lot of potential for improvement upon it's already amazing self.
I was very impressed with the character creation and how much freedom I had in creating my own, truly unique character unlike most MMO's.
The combat is very easy yet challenging at later levels, requiring you to evade, block, and position yourself in the right location whether you're playing alone, or with a party of four.
There is a fair amount of grinding in this game as expected of an MMORPG, and the fact that I had to get S ranks in some missions to advance to the next set of missions or the next area did slow things down and force me to play the same missions again, but I still had fun in the process, especially because I constantly played with 3 other friends as a party. Naturally, being in a party of four does make the game much more enjoyable and easier compared to playing alone.
The game is so good, I got my friends who don't even speak Japanese to start playing the game by teaching them what the menus where and what things meant from time to time until they got used to it and knew where everything was, and i no time, they surpassed the language barrier and play the game like normal.
I strongly encourage everyone to try it out when it comes out here in the states. Any fan of MMORPGs and (most) gamers alike will truly enjoy this game and the experience it offers.
Been playing the JP version, almost level 40 and just to warn you guys, Levels 20-30 are a major grindfest
