Because then you risk it becoming worse and thus more difficult to repair.

Was I hearing a metal version of the Double Dragon theme? If so, is it available on Overclocked Remix?

Jose needs to come back.

I remember trying this on my first (original) 360 and it didn't work. I think it worked for some people and not for others. I didn't even bother the second time around with my Elite. It's hard to believe that it caused such problems for people on reflection. I still bite my nails every time I turn my Elite on in case it decides to just die on me!

I actually watched this way back and a couple of days later, my friend's xbox got the red ring so I tried this trick and believe it or not, it worked. Thanks Jose, you saved my friend's xbox :)

Now the real question is why it works!!!

I think the answer lies in the towels, electronic things break down when you add water, right? Water is everywhere, also in the sky. If you lay your electronic device (in this case the XBox 360) on a towel and wrap it up with another one, it will slowly take the water out of the device. This is a rather big device, so twelve minutes is a minimum, as leaving it to rest for at least fifteen minutes (this is something with all electronic devices)

Did I answer your question?

I dont think water was the issue, if it was rice sucks moisture out of electronics a lot better. I think it has something to do with generating heat. The xbox gives off heat when it runs and the towels trap the heat. I dont know what the extra heat would do but it obviously does something.
