I agree with pretty much everything in this episode. I don't play WoW but what you said about League of Legends is absolutely true. I still play Warwick admaantly cause he's so awesome and so far is just a very good character.

If you want to find the most extreme example of unchecked power creep I can think of, look no further than Yu Gi Oh. The card game has existed for more than 10 years now and not once have they ever had a set go out of rotation. In magic and pokemon, only the cards from the most recent set (with some exceptions) can be used in competitive play. In Yu Gi Oh, if they find some combination of cards that breaks the game, they will put those cards on the ban list. You would think that this would open up so many different opportunities for card archetypes to continue to be useful, but with every expansion pack they have released, in the past 3 years in particular, they have found new ways to make the game ridiculously fast and really broken. Now the pros in yu gi oh have learned to adapt to this, but its near impossible for someone to just come in and start playing. Ive been playing since early on, so I know what most cards do, but I get on the online game and sometimes I get just totally blown out of the water by some japanese card that they have translated, but hasn't made it here yet. Banlists can only do so much when it comes to defining the game, other than to encourage power creep. The way that Pokemon does it where you basically have to approach the game entirely different every year helps control power creep. Yeah there are pokemon that hit for a lot more than they used to and have better abilities and attacks, but those old pokemon aren't useable in the metaformat, so it really doesnt matter all that much. We just learned that in 2 sets from now, we are getting a blastoise card that has the same ability as the original blastoise card, and that makes me excited for the future of the game.

I was just about to ask if Yu-Gi-Oh was a good example of power creep. So thanks for clearing that up.
