It would be incredible if Nintendo and Sony made collector models that played all the games they've made including Japan only, beta version, limited edition ect titles. I would buy them both in a heart beat. Even if i had to buy 2 systems for Nintendo since there's cartridges and discs. Old systems break down unless you never play them, I would want to be prepared for that. And other 3rd party systems out there aren't very reliable or naturally just don't have the ability to design something the way the people who originally released the games could. It would benefit software and hardware developers deeply, as well as making hardcore gamers out of mainstream gamers and give a lot more attention to great games that or in deep need of sequels and reboots. The idea would do so well that even a Sega model would guaranteed be successful.

I'd buy a luxury model of the PS4 that has all the backwards compatibility built in. I'd pay the combined cost of all the previous systems for the dang thing... just to have one big ol' box of PS gaming sitting under my TV. it really is just a great idea.

I guess it COULD be interpreted as Bob being biased, buy honestly, given how OTHER gamers, such as Jim Sterling, Yahtzee, Extra Credits, etc. have reacted to the PS3, it's not all that different. So why this here?

agreed 100%. i didn't have a ps3 this generation because i could only afford one console so i got an Xbox earlier in the generation but now it looks like the ps3 has a better overall library so i thought next generation since i can still only afford one console I'd go ps4 so i could play the ps3 games i missed but then they said no backwards compatibility so i said fuck this shit I'm getting a gaming PC those are infinitely backwards compatible pretty much.
