Good God, it took SO long for me to start playing my Wii U... Like, it took 6 hours to get the firmware update downloaded, but even before that, it took an additional 3 hours of me and my friend (who's a wiz with computers) to re-work the Internet so that the Wii U could connect to the bloody thing!
Nice to see he neglected to mentioned one of the infamous console hardware defects of all time: the cartridge connector on, you guessed it, THE FUCKING NES.
Yes I know he said that he had to get his own fixed. But glossing over the millions of people (including myself) who spend exorbitant amounts of time blowing on cartridges, cleaning cartridges, cleaning pin connectors, removing and reinserting cartridges over and over again just to get the game to fucking turn on was a real dick move. It's as if he took every opportunity to spin everything into a twisted, biased "new stuff sux, old stuff rox" argument.
never thought of that as a reason our consoles are starting to die n need replacing after some time theese day ( specially 360 for me it'd seem) .. i honestly miss when a console was just games, does it make sense to try to get more bang for your buck persay ? sure .. do i need it or use it ever half the time? ..no i don't need it i have other things for that
P: the point
O: your head
He's saying that we should go back to the days when they didn't need to have moving parts. They just needed to play games. I can't just sit down and believe we can't make a console that can play games. Now I will continue to shoot down as many of your statements as I can.
1. I still don't see a problem with cartridges.
2. I love the PlayStations, but luck was involved. They walked in, gave SEGA the boot, and made a decent console.
3. Name one.
Geez, this video is a crock. Gee why did the original NES work better than today's consoles.Um let's see. NES used carts with few if any moving parts. Wii U uses a OPTICAL DRIVE WHICH HAS MOVING PARTS. Gee I wonder which is going to work better.
Moron. I remember when the Game Overthinker used to be good, that is until he started bashing on Sony saying they got lucky (which is far from the truth btw, there are reasons why the PS1 and PS2 sold as well as they did and luck had nothing to do with it), then his show has been going majorly downhill. Lots of his stuff he presents as facts are inaccurate such as Nintendo coming into this gen flushed with cash thanks to the Wii when it wasn't since it has had it's first losses since the 1800's (yeah Nintendo is that old folks).
Always, I've heard he ditches the accent to sound more "sophisticated"
He's from Boston. He apparently took communications courses to try to get rid of his Boston accent.
It's pretty obvious why the Wii U and today's consoles in general don't work too well. It's because they're so complicated. Whenever technology becomes more complicated it becomes more failure-prone. You know what technology is well-known for its reliability and low failure rate? Rocks.
Since when did Bob have a Jersey accent?
It would kick arse to at least have the option of getting new game consoles w/o all the frills; streaming netflix dvd player etc., just plays the fking games. It might even COST LESS. Love the old consoles; stick in the game, power button goes 'CuCHUNK' and game starts.
The Atari 5600 (according to that one Nerd video) and Jaguar (Spoony & Nerd) didn't work so great out of the box...
I honestly abandoned the original because of the story. It just didn't really work for you.
Fuck yeah you said exactly what I thought when my PS3 got the YLOD. I was replaying the old FF games and finished FFIII on Snes (or VI as it is known now) and then went to play FFVII on my PS3. The PS3 had a hell of a time reading it, and eventually my console got the YLOD. I was like WTF? The disk wasn't really scratched and it worked well enough in my PS2 and PSone, but now my 3 year old PS3 breaks and my Super Nintendo from when I was 12 still works great! WTF MAN!
The reception of "Overbytes" looks overwhelming, the people has spoken the story parts were terrible and damaged the original show.
And also there's a new Overbytes every week!
I personally didn't think he did, he sounded more like a gramer than a Bostonian.
That is because the Famicom had better sound chips than the NES got.
Plus they got the disk system which is what the port in the NES was for (that was covered up in the original models (it's not there in the top loader)
well said. I also think he is biased. why would all of this generations consoles owe everything to the NES? Don't get me wrong, i love Nintendo and the NES, but there are consoles who just played games before the NES. For example, you could say all consoles after the Oddysee owe it to the Oddysee because it was the very first home console, or you could say the same thing to the Atari 2600 because it was the first very successful video game system. he didn't really make his final point clear. and who cares about a firm ware update that takes maybe 30 minutes? that's the way things go, when i first bought my game boy advance SP i had to charge it for like 10 hours before i could take it anywhere, yes i could play games while it was plugged in, but i couldn't unplug it. I would also like to say i love the xbox, PS2, and gamecube era a lot because it doesn't have updates and stuff but if the updates are free and contribute to the gaming experience i would approve of them. if these necessary downloads are for a profit, causing you to spend more to get something you already payed for, then that is bad.
I'm totally agree with you my man... And the software is not the only problem... For example. for piracy reasons, microsoft and nintendo managed to created different motherboards and different firmwares so it would be difficult to hack... But of course the customer does not knows that because they only care to PLAY as you say, and when somethings got jammed and they took it to specialist, it cames more difficult to find any replacement because they are so many!!!
He's from Boston, sometimes he gets carried away and forgets to speak in his decent overall speaking voice (or something like that). I think he's just a bit pissed about his wii U launch, and in a way he has a right to.
I hope consoles in the future will start out with two options: activate your console and start gaming, or activacte your console and check all the media online munbo jumbo. I still dig playing on my PSone today because if you inserted a game, you're ready to go.
WHat the hell is wrong with his talking this time. He says words very oddly this time. I never noticed this in his other videos. Also quit with the f-bombs dude. They don't suit your video and it does not push your point further. Either way great video and you make awesome points, glad to have you around.
