Game Theory: Why Final Fantasy is Anti-Religion
Final Fantasy games feature a lot of religious symbolism. But if you look closely, those references to religion actually form a very interesting pattern; the Final Fantasy games are actually against organized religion...and even the concept of God himself. Fine intelligence at work. *claps* Makes all the final fantasy grinding more interesting.

Now it may be because I am admitably biased, as both a religious person and a big Final Fantasy fan, 6 especially, but I viewed the Kefka boss a rather different way. I had always taken it that Kefka transformed into crude parodies of religious figures and the like to assert his powers and better convay his nihlistic ideals. I don't think that case is so much that God is evil, but that people pretending they're gods are evil. People pretending they have some sick false authority to dctate the world are evil.
