Hey guys i have a new idea for a Death Battle i was thinking who would win Dr.Doom or Lex Luthor
Thanks for the sub recommendation. *warlock punches*
It's a good concept. You should consider keeping it up.
I know, many have been up my ass, but I would just like to say I am glad that out of everyone, YOU came to me for answer. I dunno, I just feel cool about it. Not the point though.
Listening back, "opportunity" was in no way the right word. What I was saying then was not a good way to describe what I truly felt. What I was saying was with the 2D sprite, it felt like the character was more alive and, overall, more flexible. The 3D animation for me looked stiff a little bit. I get you controlling all of their movement with the 3D, and I do think this helps the battle be more realistic looking, but I feel it was more exciting and interesting to see the characters as sprites because it seemed like DEATH BATTLE had more personality and overall seemed more exciting. I personally felt you did more with the 2D sprites than you did with the 3D here. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but it is my honest opinion.
Don't worry though, I do think the animation was cool, I just like 2D better. Plus, yes, some sprites aren't available normally, but aren't there sprite artists who can design some?
Either way, I am very happy you left a comment let alone listened to the Season Finale. I get that since it is DEATH BATTLE, but I appreciate it nonetheless. :)
No I'm a pissed off Suda51 fanboy who is tired of seeing Final Fantasy fanboys try to buff their character to ridiculous heights and am telling them to fuck off. If you want to say Cloud was gimped by all means do so, but don't tell me he can move at 8 847.54 m / s.
you sound more so as a fanboy of Zelda games telling people to F-off I see it more like this- clouds first game and it should of been Links first game then, sure use the 3D model of Link but you are choosing which Link you want to face cloud then it should of been on equal terms but it wasn't was it? I see that term canon games tossed around a lot, so dirge and advent this is the same cloud in those 2 movie he uses fusion sword and in the dirge fusion sword to my understanding he gained new power in advent after being cleansed of stigma and gave up his buster sword.
so giving Link a arsenal against him made it a fair fight I can see why, cause cloud needs to be gimped to die cause if you chose link and cloud from the first games cloud would of walked over link like nothing, cloud can move fast if he can deflect bullets with a sword any normal person would of died, the saying faster than a speeding bullet superman ring a bell?
I did enjoy the video but if cloud had some of his other items I do believe Link wouldn't of survived but I'll have pissed off anger fanboys and probably best that way for cloud to lose since we are the less sensitive final fantasy goers so hats off to you zelda fans I wasnt gonna say anything more on this but this is my last and final comment.
Thanks for the backup LT! Yeah, I have yet to see a "legitimate" complaint about the analysis and representation that wasn't already addressed in the episode itself. All that tells me is some people aren't listening to the rundowns for some reason. But what amazes me is how picky some folks are suddenly being about the fight animation. No dust cloud when Link stops? Really? I mean, it wasn't that long ago that I was doing the animations...
And 2D sprites have more "opportunity?" Huh? With all due respect I have no idea how you came to that conclusion, Flapperdoodle. They're 2D. Singularly hand-made. They're pre-defined. Everything about a battle with 2D sprites has to be determined by what sprites are available. Like if Kratos doesn't have a "throwing" sprite, he can't throw anything at Spawn or Spawn himself. Little edits can help add some things, like Rogue's unprotected hand, but there are limits to that, too. Lange may be a master at manipulating 2 dimensional sprites to their maximum limit for a 3 dimensional environment (Thor VS Raiden is proof) but with 3D models, nothing is pre-determined, and we have complete control over every movement. Very little of what happened in the Link VS Cloud fight could have been accomplished with 2D sprites, especially considering how few and limited the decent sprite collections of both characters are.
Thanks guys. I'm glad some people like them.
Great job! Is season 2 here yet? I liked the new Death Battle. I don't nitpick them that juch, I just watch for enjoyment. Thanks for mentioning What Just Happened. I feel like I should give it more love, but its not an easy series to make for some reason.
"For example, golden gauntlets are supposed to be used for lifting certain rocks; they never had a combat bonus."
That's why DEATH BATTLE specifically mentioned they don't increase striking power, they only mentioned how they can resist high levels of pressure. If the Golden Gauntlets can keep Link stable under 1000 tons of force induced by a giant rock of granite I don't see why the same can't apply to sword strikes.
"The ribbon that Cloud had was also supposed to protect him completely from status ailments, but he got frozen which should not have been able to happen. Link can't use the boots to run up walls, and Cloud also had a much smaller item inventory than Link did."
Cloud broke through the ice (in other words he was immune to it) and as Death Battle has already stated, the videos are never 100% accurate representations of how an actual fight would go down, they're there for 'rule of cool'.
I'm not saying the idea of DEATH BATTLE making mistakes or inaccuracies is impossible, but I REALLY wish people would stop complaining about what happens in the animations and analyze the team's data in the beginning or end segments. Those contain the details worth analyzing.
Great job with the season finale as a whole! I thought it was pretty awesome!
I think the animation and research of the Death Battle episode were both done well. The only problems I had were with some item inaccuracies. For example, golden gauntlets are supposed to be used for lifting certain rocks; they never had a combat bonus. The ribbon that Cloud had was also supposed to protect him completely from status ailments, but he got frozen which should not have been able to happen. Link can't use the boots to run up walls, and Cloud also had a much smaller item inventory than Link did. But again though, I thought that the change in graphics was an interesting idea, and I'm glad they experimented around with it. The episode certainly looked and sounded very nice.
As for the ending, the lack of mutilation and excessive blood was probably due to time constraints. But at least they tried something different out with the graphics department.
Thanks a lot for mentioning my video series by the way! I really appreciate it.
I dunno, I just love sprites better. They had more personality and overall made the battles more fun to watch. But yeah, I know I can b*tch about that a little too much. Also, YOU GOT DAT RIGHT BROTHA!
Yeah, I took a chance to look that up... it seems very unrealistic Cloud can move like that. And sure Lousy, we'd LOVE to have you back on!
Awesome episode guys! With regards to Death Battle, I'm pretty sure that Link and Cloud were just models ripped from their respective games and then rigged for use in the battle animation. So it would be pretty difficult to give them fluent animation alongside a 3 week deadline. In cases of what happened at the end, it's likely that they didn't show Cloud getting decapitated and such because they didn't have the time to modify the model (cut it in half, blood textures, ect.). I do think that your opinions on having a better introduction is fair, although that and many of your other opinions are connected to the problem that it was not a sprite based animation.
In all I would have to say that this Death Battle episode was ambitious with it's new style of animation, and I think it was done quite well with whatever constraints there were. But yeah.. the ending was a bit lack luster.. also YEEEAH FERRET'S ECHO VIDEOS ARE DA BOMB!
Nice episode looking forward to season 2 :D
You're all wrong about the Dead Pool game should obviously be a cooking simulator! Nah, I'm with Kai, Hack and Slash all the way!
"Even g1 After Dark has gone to the dark side whenever this debate was brought up"
Sorry about that, most debates that erupted from DEATH BATTLE related stuff on g1 After Dark can be blamed on me.
Any opinions I have on the fight can be seen here http://www.screwattack.com/news/ofdbfb-update-cloud-vs-link-verdict-and-... (Shameless plug for our newest DEATH BATTLE Fan Blog)
I know you guys said to try to avoid giving flame bait and there definitely are people arguing that Cloud should have won who I respect, however I NEED to address this and get it out of my system.
To every dense, delusion, whiny, brain dead, insipid fucking fanboy trying to tell me Cloud can somehow move at Mach 26 despite him being one of the slowest characters in FF VII, despite him specializing in, "SLOW AND POWERFUL STRIKES", and despite there being no evidence from the uncountable number of wiki-pages or games I've experienced that suggests he can move remotely close to that speed I have one thing to say to you: FUCK OFF!
Anyway, great job with the season finale, I'm glad Gaara The Dancin Panda was the guest (he was probably one of my favorite so far) and I'm hoping I get the chance join SIDETRACKED or be a guest on it again sometime next season.
I guess I'm also a little disappointed because I keep seeing the same g1s get recommended for Sub Saturday. Not that they don't deserve it, but a little more variety goes along way. Besides, it would've allowed for Gaara to participate in the countdown too. Just a thought...
XD Smooth dude... smooth.
