"Multiple Hallways to Explore"

I think if the old school final fantasy games had a map in the corner of the screen then people would realize the series has always been linear. It didn't bother me then and it doesn't bother me now.

Have you seen FF12? Switching from how open that game was gameplay wise to 13 was so horrible. It's not just about the linearity of the world, but also the linearity of the combat, which was not fixed in 13-2.

i think what they are really trying saying is that they want to fly in a airship again. but only linear is popping up in their linear minds

It still looks absolutely gorgeous..... but SE, that still isn't "Open World." We know you KNOW how to do it, and dressing it up pretty and adding one or two more "corridors" does not make it better. It just gives you another place to run to and lv grind, gain items, etc. Imagine if you could traverse the world(s) without boundaries? You see a city and head towards it.... kinda like those new fangled, modern day "sand box" games that are coming out and improving all the time. Like I said, I know SE can do it, but I wonder why they are trying to stick to this formula. Also, just in case anyone was wondering, I am a HUGE fan of FF and have played pretty much every single one ever made. I think it's time for the FF series to take a step back, maybe do an old school 4 Crystals story, make the world a sand box type with evolving and ever changing elements like Skyrim, improve on the battle system used in FF XIII (It's already an advanced ATB, but now it just needs some more tweaking and more dynamic options. A hybrid of it and Kingdom Hearts style may be good, but I'm just speculating), keep up with the amazing scores and soundtracks, continue with your beautiful designs and graphics, don't lose sight of your creative and stylized characters....... I think that's about it. I don't think I will ever buy XIII-2, but I'll give it a shot by renting it and playing all the way through. Can never judge a book by it's cover of course, but regardless I can still look forward toward future installments of the series ^_^. Sorry for the book everyone! lol. I just had to get that all off my chest.

They have brought themselves down to the point that they have to advertise the fact their game has "multiple paths"
