3DMaster: >Well, there is still a lot of discrimination against women in the world, as well as domestic abuse.

If there's a lot of domestic abuse against women, there's a lot of domestic abuse against me. The number of victims and perpetrators of DV are split evenly between men and women.

>The female-to-male earnings ratio was 0.81

No, actually when you check hourly wage, women on average make more money. To get a detrimental pay gap for women requires you to take the average LIFETIME earnings. That is, what did someone make in total at the end of their life across their entire life; and then make an average of that. Women choose to work less hours, which is where the discrepancy comes from. Men are the vast majority of low-paying dangerous jobs. 92% of all work-place deaths are men for example.

>domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined

That's a lie. Even if this were the case, it could just as easily be that accidents, muggings and rapes simply happen very little to women; thus that they are safe pretty much everywhere. Indeed, the least committed violent crime is the rape of women.

>85% of domestic violence victims are women
That's a lie. A minimum of 40% domestic violence victims are men; it really matters how free a man is to come reporting, whether or not the cops arrest him for being the victim, and whether or not there are services for men. In places where men are treated with dignity; it becomes essentially equal. Also, since women are more likely to grab a knife or another weapon, in quite a few cases men are majority of fatalities in DV.

>85% of violent crimes are committed by men
That's because women have far less reason to commit violent crimes, while men have far more reasons to do so.. 1. They are not expected to provide for their family; thus they do not need to make money for others. 2. Directly related, through alimony and child support woman can get money from a man; even fraudulently so and such heights it can be higher than a man's wage; should he fail to make payments, he will be put in prison, 3. government welfare checks especially for single mothers decreases a woman's need for (violent) crime further. 4. Evolution instilled in women a hypergamous instinct, to seek economic and social power in the men she mates with, while men have the instinct to provide in a woman's hypergamous instincts to attract women.

It is then not so surprising that women spend 85% of all DISPOSABLE income.

However, men have been dropping out of this scheme, there are steadily wising up to a system that is set up to hand money from them to women, while they get nothing in return except stripped from their children and tossed in prison. Result; they are stopping with providing for women more and more. They won't marry, they won't hand money over to women, they even start avoiding the pursuit of women altogether. As a result the reasons for men to commit (violent) crimes are decreasing, while the reasons for women to commit (violent) crimes. The result: total amount of violent crimes have been decreasing sharply since the early nineties, among men it has been decreasing even more sharply; while the violent crime perpetrated by women has been increasing.

Also, do not forget that many a violent crime committed by women will be completely ignored as her neoteny helps make her seem not threatening.

Also; some 85% of the violent crime victims are men.

>98% of sexual assault suspects are men

FALSE. 98% of RAPE suspects are men, that's because rape definitions used to count them are conveniently set up with the clause "penetration no matter how slight", not only does this inflate the total amount of cases counted as rape, it also conveniently relegates the major ways with which women rape men (forced envelopment, and forced to envelop) to "other sexual violence". To show you how much feminists who built these definitions and lobbied for their use care about their fellow women and homosexuals; large sections of women raped by lesbians will not be counted as rape and will be ignored. In reality, the numbers are actually near equal.

>Crimes are commited predominantly by men. It's not hard to see that there's a problem

Yes, and the problem is that men are still objectified for their utility and wealth by women, and their disposability by and for society. It results in men being socialized to suppress and ignore their own pain and the pain in other men. From the very first "big boys don't cry" by their mothers, men are taught that their pain and suffering doesn't matter, and better learn to ignore it fast. At the same time they are taught to see themselves as the ones who earn the money so the woman can spend it; and if he doesn't make enough, he better start fast, one way or another.

However, if present day trends are continuing, and there's no reason why they shouldn't stay the same, then soon, men being the ones predominantly committing crimes, may no longer be the case.

>On the other hand, the use of women as defenceless objects in film is a bad trope on its own. It
>objectifies women, and reduces them from characters to a sort of MacGuffin, only there to induce
>drama, provoke, or make a character look more evil.

Bullshit. It elevates women on pedestals; eternal angelic victims. It turns them into 1st class citizens, and men to 2nd class citizens; not to mention evil animals, for they are the ones made to look evil through the trope.
6/7/13 3:15pm
NaiOni: Well, there is still a lot of discrimination against women in the world, as well as domestic abuse. And somehow, it makes you angry when they show violence against women? Because it demonizes men? I can use statistics too; The female-to-male earnings ratio was 0.81, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined and 85% of domestic violence victims are women. 85% of violent crimes are commited by men, while 98% of sexual assault suspects are men. Crimes are commited predominantly by men. It's not hard to see that there's a problem. On the other hand, the use of women as defenceless objects in film is a bad trope on its own. It objectifies women, and reduces them from characters to a sort of MacGuffin, only there to induce drama, provoke, or make a character look more evil.

Scourge626: Interested, but this needs SO much work.
6/7/13 4:24am
3DMaster: Oh, look, bad men hurting women for the pathos. Not once, not twice, but three times - already, and I'm barely halfway through.

Because we all know, bad men hurting women are every where, and good men must stop them, right?

Back in the real world, the majority of the victims of violence are men, by a rate some 4 times higher than women.

Seriously, is there ANYTHING around these days that actually reflects reality, and doesn't just use demonizing men as a crutch to get viewers?

Fuck this shit.

In a departure from what they usually do, Red vs Blue's lead animator, Monty Oum, is creating Rooster Teeth's latest show. It's the very anime-style RWBY, and it just might be awesome.

Bruce Lee is a legend when it comes to Kung Fu films, so the idea that he would inspire some game characters isn't all that surprising. Would you guess ssooo many characters actually were?

Bryan Mangan: Oh c'mon. Fei Long is nothing like Bruce Lee.
6/3/13 9:02pm
Evil Ivan: And despite Lee's best efforts, the "pot-bellied master" trope lives on as well.
6/3/13 8:59pm
Keychain: He inspired Lee Sin from League of Legends, presumably.
6/3/13 6:59pm
Ultra SuperNova: There's a couple of Bruce Lee inspired characters like Rock Lee from Naruto and Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. They're both manga and anime characters but they do appear in video games if that count.

McKnackus I: I actually like the idea of a physically impossible boss to beat for a game about life. The game over screen would be like "you've reached the end, but hey, you had fun right?" That's surprisingly deep for all the lasers and missile frogs.
