Hey Drake, Why is there a guy named "Hidden Scrolling Message" in the birthday list in the last SideScrollers video? :)
4/4/13 10:26am
AtomicBillie: Ah, just like the "ba dum tsh" from last week.
4/4/13 9:11am
Drake McWhorter: Because I like hiding random stuff in SideScrollers episodes. Watch closely every week, some things might just slip past you.

Our boy Drake actually has a good idea every once in a while, and with a portable table that you can flip anytime and anywhere, this might just be his best idea yet.

darkhyrulelord: Interesting...

CrazyDuck: <(°.°<) kirby is confused by this ...

werdman24: It makes me wanna flip a table in a safe manner, but I don't have that table in my possession. Grr.
4/3/13 4:35am
pre10do64: You guys should show it in a shot glass so people can actually see that it fits. Then we could see it would be a feasible drinking game.

Retro inspired sidescrollers are all the rage these days and Cave Story might just be the best one in years.
4/13/13 6:38pm
firehazard51: Nice review, totally going to play this game.
3/21/13 9:57pm
3D_Canadian: isint there a cave story for 3DS?
3/21/13 9:12pm
Mcgunn: I was thinking the same thing XD
3/21/13 7:50pm
CyberAngel573: Dude, I can do you one better. Played the original PC version, bought it again on WiiWare, DSi Shop, and the Plus version on Steam. A game is really good when you are willing to play through it a second time, but being good enough to buy it multiple times is a real accomplishment. I'd hate to see what I would do if they ever made a sequel.

Jewtastic_JDL12: Did you at least beat the secret ending? Holy mazta, that will blow your tuchus off!

Also, if you like the music so much there are multiple remix albums here...

Drake McWhorter: I will certainly consider it.
3/14/13 12:33pm
Mad-Mutt: I've lost count of how many times I've played this game. The only game I've played more than this one is RE: 4 and I still enjoy both games. These are one of those games that just don't get old fast and are fun.

LordoftheDerp: Drake, Master of the Keyblade, will ou marry me?

Tiago: My greatest complain about Arkham City is about the way they choose to work the narrative. Hugo Strange DESERVED MORE SPOTLIGHT! We only see (and even hear about) him for like 10 minutes of the entire game... The rest is Joker all over again (and, sure, sure, I like the prince clown of crime, but I also get the feeling that other characthers should get their big moments from time to time - and Joker already had his at Arkham Asylum).
In my most honest and humble opinion, it would be a completely different - and more interesting at that - game if they demoted Joker to a small part at this game (And yeah, before you ask, the ending didn't work for me).

Ah Fez, the Duke Nukem Forever of indie games. After putting it off for so long, what does Drake think when playing catch up?
3/6/13 11:36pm
Drake McWhorter: Typically I do throw in more video from the game, but for one, I make a point to not show video during the "spoiler" section and honestly, I rushed this entire episode as a whole xD
3/3/13 10:54am
Isteckel: Great thoughts on the game, though one big fat mark of criticism. It is nice to see the narrator of the review, but to be honest I got not only bored, but annoying at just looking at your face. Through the whole length of the video which lasts 3 minuts and 33 seconds, only 4 seconds of the video, was gameplay from the actually game! Now everybody have their own style and presentation, all i'm saying is you might want to reconsider how you present your content.

CaptainSamsquanch: drake i really do think you are awesome and everything, but i absolutely cannot disagree with this more
2/28/13 8:27pm
gameguy: does drake know what a spoiler is i don't think he spoiled anything
2/28/13 6:10pm
firehazard51: Much improved video game review Drake. Did an excellent job of not talking too fast but when you slowed down to a crawl to explain the game you might of over did the joke too much because it was too long of slow talking gag. Love the fake fez hat and how you poked fun at how cheaply made and fake the prop is.

On a cold day with nowhere to go, it's time to take a look at the newest book from Nintendo and Dark Horse Comics.
3/16/13 8:17am
zgamer007: Nice review. I'd like to maybe get it someday for the artwork and the articles about the games. As far as the timeline though, I think Nintendo is full of crap and that 3rd branch that nobody expected until the book came out in Japan in my opinion is a total copout. It's based on a "what if" scenario instead of something that actually happened in the game. One of my biggest problems with it is that with a "what if Link failed" scenario, it would mean Link could fail at any point in the game, resulting in infinite branches. Another big issue I had is that it doesn't reconcile the differences between the backstory of A Link to the Past & the events of Ocarina of Time. Ganondorf in the backstory of A Link to the Past did not acquire the Triforce any way close to what happens in that "what if Link failed" scenario. I think it's still possible to reconcile the differences between the 2 games despite the copout approach they took, but it would mean making a game that is set between OoT & ALttP, which is the subject of a blog I've been working on for a long time. I'm sure at least some of those who read this comment will disagree with what I pointed out & say that the HH is canon despite any contradictions, but for me in-game text and official game manuals that came out with 20+ year old Zelda games mean more than a timeline that wasn't even conceived until OoT/MM. I'd rather say screw a timeline altogether & not be held to some non-flexible framework that is full of holes anyway.

Anyway, keep up the good work Drake. Forty three degrees is warm for me, haha. Enjoy your weekend.

By "popular" demand, Drake has beaten The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, but is he amused? With guest star High School Drake!
3/30/13 10:42am
gameguy: then if they have best zelda game i have my pick
3/21/13 9:57pm
darkhyrulelord: While I liked Spirit Tracks for the most part, it is one of the lower ones. Still, I think that Phantom Hourglass and Link's Awakening are not as great comparatively. While the train system wasn't the best way, I still think it's better than Windwaker's.
3/9/13 10:22pm
LineBeckIV: But it can be added that the CDi games were not published by Nintendo, thus it's the complete lack of assosiation with the parent developer that does seperate it heavily from the other entries. And while it may not hold much relavence it should be noted that the Cdi games do not hold the "The Legend of Zelda" title but are rather just "Link" and "Zelda", I give Zelda 2 a pass here because it's a direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda for the NES. I would also argue that because the Zelda series is so based on a single formula that most of the CDI games are almost nothing like the rest of the series. You do raise good points but the CDI games are simply not mainseries games, but do they have a place in Zelda history, yes But as far as I'm concerned they can sit on the shelf with the Tingle games and Link's Cross bow training. In the end despite having no real control of the series it's all in all up to the fans what they want to classify the games as, either way is equally valid. Sorry for the long ass reply.

JxL: "Suck" may have been overexagerating a little they weren't awful. I guess I meant they "sucked" in comparison. I agree with most of what you said, thx for replying.
3/8/13 3:36am
zgamer007: I agree Sierra. I don't really care about canon or a timeline that wasn't even considered by Miyamoto until the late 90's or the 00's. Especially a timeline that has so many inconsistencies and retcons.

Those 3 games were licensed & approved by Nintendo, so they're official Zelda games. The same holds true to those who say that Contra Force isn't an official Contra game.

Critically acclaimed and financially ignored, Darksiders is perhaps one of the greatest overlooked gems of the modern era.
2/28/13 9:10pm
BitCloud21: I will miss you Dark Siders.
2/28/13 8:38pm
firehazard51: Excellent review. I like the video clips showing showing what your talking about. Your lighting is a distraction. I got a tip from another show about basically using a thing piece of cloth to make your lighting look better. I just throw a white t-shirt over my lights and it does make my videos better than without the shirt. Something you may want to try out and see if it works for you.
2/22/13 10:19pm
darkhyrulelord: That's epic that Mark Hamill is like that. I'll check this game out if I can Drake! A shame that no new sequels might not be made.
2/12/13 8:49pm
sCIONIDE_cOWBOY: i do plan on picking this up soon, played the demo and i really enjoyed it.
2/8/13 7:08pm
ThePrinceOfSaiyajins: I hope someone picks up the Darksiders licence. I really enjoyed both games. The last boss in 2 is very disappointing though. The boss before him is what the final boss should have been.
