Ferret75's Wall

4/22/14 2:38am

I haven't made a wall post in a long time, so I thought that I would write something here. Hey everyone, and thanks a lot to anybody who’s still subscribed to me. I know that apart from a few retro reviews, I haven't written a whole lot lately, so I'm sorry for that. School's been keeping me busy, but I've also been developing a game of my own during my free time, and those have both been a main focus of mine lately. Still though, part of the problem comes from a lack of commitment, and I'm sorry for that. I'll make a bigger effort to write an interesting blog post or maybe make a short video soon; whatever it is, I hope that people end up liking it.

I'm thinking of writing a blog post this winter about the top ten mustelids in gaming. Mustelids are animals which include ferrets, weasels, wolverines, badgers, and other related animals, although skunks are not included. I only posted a single top five blog post in the past, so a top ten list might be fun to write sometime.

Medium Mislabeling - Confusing Video Games with Films

Medium Mislabeling - Confusing Video Games with Films

Despite having interactive control, specific video games are sometimes mislabeled as films. While discussing medium differences, I'll also separately explore Dragon's Lair, Night Trap, and Heavy Rain.

I haven't released a blog post in a while, so I thought that I would briefly describe some plans on my wall. I started working on a blog post that's halfway done regarding the behavior of misclassifying certain video games as being films, and that's a topic that I was really interested in writing about. Beside that, I also might write a Sega Collecting Guide blog of sorts sometime, and eventually I want to make lists for my top 5 favorite and least favorite games. I'm also making a small game in my free time. Thank you for subscribing to me everyone, and I'm sorry for not being as active on the main site.

Having played the Beyond: Two Souls demo twice, I'm extremely impressed so far! The story is a noticeable improvement over Heavy Rain, I like the new gameplay elements like with the fighting segments and the less linear spirit mechanics, and the acting from Ellen Page is pretty great so far. The visuals are also excellent, the scenes branch depending on certain actions, and there are different areas where various situations can occur. I'm looking forward to the game's release next week!

Retro Review - Kolibri

Retro Review - Kolibri

Arguably the best hummingbird shooter for the Sega 32X, Kolibri certainly has an original concept going for it, but is the overall presentation strong enough to warrant tracking down a cartridge?

I decided to complete the first Ecco the Dolphin this weekend. It was fun despite some occasional unfairness, but it wasn't as consistently enjoyable as its sequel, which I like significantly more. I also played the Sega CD version which to be honest had less impressive and notably less varied music than the Sega Genesis original, but there were a few cool bonuses like some new levels which was nice.

Retro Review - Columns (Sega Genesis)

Columns appears to be a simple puzzle game on the surface, but how entertaining is the actual gameplay? How do some console versions of this arcade classic hold up from a modern perspective?

Ferret, I feel no happiness in doing this, but I have to kill you. Alpha Unit said so.

Today is my twentieth birthday, and that makes me as excited as a dancing ferret. I shall celebrate with coconut cake. But I don't have coconut cake, so ice cream will make an acceptable substitute.

I'm not at the convention, but for those of you who are there right now, I hope you're having a fun and generally awesome time so far! Anyway, regarding personal projects, I'm going to try to write a blog post or two sometime this weekend. One planned post is a rapid thoughts blog post where I briefly talk about thirty gaming topics. Another planned one is a retro review for Ecco: The Tides of Time.
