You don't necessarily need "no one" buying other consoles to form a monopoly. Especially since, as of right now, it would be impossible for the PS4 to establish one seeing as it isn't out yet.
Instead, if there is a massive shift of the market towards Sony and the PS4, it will draw developers and publishers off of the other systems. If a majority of them start focusing on Sony, it'll just cause a spiral. A monopoly is about capitalizing, and forcing other competing services either out of the picture or under you. Some companies dealing with diamonds, for instance, have easily monopolized the trade because. should they need to, they can flood the market with them and force the price of diamonds to take such a plunge that any lesser rivals would go right out of business.
Those smaller groups are around, sure, but they are effectively blocked from trying to compete and take the lead over the larger ones.

Marduk: And Sony. Seriously, just a few days ago you were telling me that no one is letting Sony off the hook for their used games policy with the PS4 and yet here you are singling out Microsoft for a policy that is essentially identical for both Microsoft and Sony.
LightningandIce: If a company wanted to earn a lot of brownie points right now, they could straight up refuse to release any games on any console that allowed used game blocking. I bet if some of the bigger companies decided to put principle ahead of money, it would send a pretty strong message to Microsoft.

the0nlykyd: It's extremely difficult to not link this game to Sonic X-Treme when it has so many design similarities.
Ben Singer: That's exactly it. However, it's much easier to design gameplay and levels around just one style of play, so having just Sonic is a much surer way of getting a good game.

The company wants more fan-based feedback, while suqeezing more money out of them at the same time.
halloll: my game purchase plan, a lot less Square Enix games. effective since FFXIII.
Animemun: Because for the love of the gods VII remade will shut up a LOT of fanboys and remaking VI will give us a chance to actually have a fully sung Aria de Mezzo Carattere in a complete and professional manner not to mention seeing in full CG brilliance the complete and utter destruction of a world. Something Square did not have available at the time of the original's creation. They semi hinted at it with the PS1 remaster but all we got was a spiffy opening video and a snazzy outro CG. I want a true Light of Judgement world go boomie boom cut scene. Not to mention if they cared to the could potentially up the difficulty of the second half of the game by having Kefka occasionally fire a shot in a random direction. You hear it no matter what but you don't always know if its coming after you or not.
bioniclepizzaman: I am fine with this as long as KH3 gets made sooner.
Sckarton: fuck you square and fuck you capcom and EA for starting this trend on other companies.
ShinraCorp: While not HD remakes they did release a Blu-Ray containing every numerical FF game up to I think 10? Of course being Square it's a Japan only release. also KH3 HAS to be the next one, there's no way they could tease the ending of Dream Drop Distance saying : The next number shall be reveal AND NOT BE THE 3RD GAME!
