Some games will always remind you of a particular person, time, or place in your life.

A lesson learned the first time I played a game with a friend. What's the first one you played with a friend?
LeifyGreen: haha that's awesome. The same used to happen to my brother and I. We'd sneak out of our rooms at night and would play with the sound off. Of course our parents still always caught us because we'd start arguing or laughing.
King Meatball I: At the same time, probably between Contra, Super C, and Double Dragon II. Taking turns or playing the same game, then probably one of the Super Mario Bros games.
dreamkaster64: super smash bros
HedgeyourBets: For me it was probably sonic 3 or sonic and knuckles, I sucked at it but it was awesome.
caboose_-1: Oh man. The farthest back I can remember is playing Super Mario Kart with my sister (if that counts). Our parents got so mad at us because we stayed up so far past our bedtime playing it (which was also a first for me at the time).

I am a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad, gamer.
bigjoe91: Welcome to the club of terrible gamers!
Baleoce: Haha, point #5 is spot on. Exactly the same with me xD I'm the youngest of four and can sympathise with you completely.
#4 is identical to me too. That's why I watch twitch.tv so much these days probably. I enjoy the atmosphere when watching someone else play, and I can focus on just taking in the story or just visually learning more about the game.
#3 is quite similar to me, in that I tend to play a game slowly and savour it like a fine wine xD Rushing through something just to be able to say I beat it that fast, doesn't appeal to me at all. If anything, sometimes I start other games before I finish something else, because I want to keep that other experience fresh.
#2 I can see where you're coming from. I was always happiest around the N64 era where I could play multiplayer locally in Mario Kart or Goldeneye/Perfect Dark with up to 3 other friends. Online is fun, but not the same atmosphere.
#1 I agree with your principles on what defines being a gamer. It's definitely not just about being good at games, it's an entire culture :)
Thanks for the interesting read!
