Give them the Guns... and they will come for the Games
5/9/13 9:02pm
caboose_-1: Much more politicized this time, although concerning the subject matter it's kind of hard to avoid. Although I follow the slippery slope argument, I find the claims that video games will fall to a Brandburian fate are outlandish. Video games are certainly not viewed as unneeded and to think that Congress could get their act together and pass something or that anything that the President wants to have happen will get anywhere is to ignore the track record he's had since the Democrats lost control of the House.

Hell, the fact that Congress can't even decide to look at a gun bill in the Senate is a testament to the amount of money that the NRA throws at politicians. Besides, there have been claims for year that video games should be regulated or cleaned up by the government. After the shooting at Columbine there was a massive cry to crack down on violent video games after it was revealed that the shooters played a version of DOOM that they had hacked.

Evil Ivan: Unless our rulers go the route of bread and circuses by subsidizing entertainment consumption (I can hear the U.S. dollar coughing up more blood) this industry will not survive much longer in its present form.

Inhale those tiny particles of guano, boys and girls.

Anti_Hipster: Razorfist. You ought to be a Screwattack partner.

You're one of the best content producers on youtube, much less Screwattack.

Craig, make Razorfist a Screwattack partner already!

caboose_-1: I think this is the first time I've seen you comment on one of your videos on ScrewAttack. What's really funny is that not long after your first video on the video game crash, Bob Chipman made his own video on the subject. You're a trend-setter RazorFist, God fucking speed to you.

RazörFist deconstructs an industry in freefall.
5/7/13 3:55am
RazorFist: Part II's already up, brother.
As for fallout? We're beginning to see it already. In of all places, politics. When the video game industry was raking in profits to rival Hollywood, apart from the odd grumbling and grandstanding, no one would have dared actually broach the subject of government-mandated video game censorship legislation. The furthest they could get was the formation of the ESRB. Why? Because big business keeps the wheels of government turning. The industry was too big and powerful of a target.

But now that the video game crash has hit?
Suddenly, Obama's formed a 'clean video games' task force. Dianne Feinstein is proposing broad regulation of the violent content in video games. With lower profits... video games, as an industry, are vulnerable.

darkhyrulelord: Interesting how this review attempts to find everything possibly bad about it. Certainly there were some pros, right? Hmm....if that's the case, then I'd like to see one on a game that has so many problems that this review would take 30 minutes. >: )
4/26/13 10:53am
Mokuu: Fanboy?
Well then, if my description on how Razorfist's ranting isn't an actual review and more of a rant-whining about mechanics he doesn't understand nor make efforts to understand. Then thats just prime. But speaking about fanboy, i could have just turned my attention towards your immediate jump to his defense when his "review" method is being criticized. I especially love your lackluster responses which make you look like more of a RazorFist fanboy than i as a supposed MGS fanboy. Truly fascinating ;)
As for this: " Now I'm not going to even read any more of your comments because you're just a fanboy ..." just brings this full circle as it can be basically translated as " I don't like how you criticize my favorite reviewer, i will ignore your valid points on reviewing styles along with the difference between reviewing and childish ranting."
Oh well, c'est la vie. Funtimes :D
4/26/13 9:10am
joeshadowman: Dude tutorial or not, blade mode fails because of just how bad it was implemented. Now I'm not going to even read any more of your comments because you're just a fanboy who can't get over someone not liking the game. Claiming that we just don't get it. Well we do and trust me, it's nothing good. Fucking A. If you can't take someone not liking something then get the fuck out of my filed of vision. All you are doing is basically this. "Wha someone didn't like this game. Wha. I'm just going to pretend like what they say doesn't matter. Because, they just don't get it." I think the only one that doesn't get it here is you.
4/26/13 5:22am
Mokuu: Seems both you and Rageh. have completely missed your marks then, lets see...

I have no clue what you mean by "little slow time feature." Oh, BLADE MODE? - Movements? Im not sure what you were trying to do but blade mode is very simple to use and you aren't forced to use manual blade mode for precise cuts unless you really want to, there are the [Triangle] and [Square].
BUT, i think the both of you, like many, haven't touched the tutorials to fully understand the mechanics. This occurs quite frequently with third person action games and can prove to be even more punishing in this game seeing that you get 2-types of Raidens.
Now theres also something else i keep seeing and laughing at every time its mentioned as its a clear giveaway that the person hasn't followed the game's progression or marketing : This wasn't meant to be a "MGS" game but instead a Spin-off. (Google info on the original project with the new konami team) So there weren't that many past MGS references shoved in there to confuse people during progression.
So alot of things RageH is screaming about turns out invalid as its mostly due to his failure to play and understand theses kinds of games.
Which is why he isn't really reviewing it, but just bitching about it.
Kinda like an IGN reviewer that hates FPS but is forced to review an FPS game without fully understanding how they play off - He's gonna hate it then give it a shit review - skewing potential buyers from giving it a chance or checking out the demo.
4/25/13 9:32pm
joeshadowman: First of all, being told what someones character is like instead of seeing it unfold in a visual medium like video games, isn't character development. Second, everyone complains about the story. Every other review has stated that the story was lackluster at best and just plain awful at worst. Third, this game has terrible gameplay. Believe me, I've played plenty of TPAGs and let me tell you, the people behind this game dropped the ball in every way. Not to mention just how terrible the little slow time feature was implanted. I'm sorry but the right analog stick is suddenly for movement and the left is for the camera. That's just completely ass backwards. Finally, if a game is only for veteran players of both the series and of the genera it's apart of then the developers shoot themselves in the foot. Not only are they not making it easy for new comers to understand what's going on, but they also made it impossible for them to enjoy. Lets face it, this game has nothing going for it outside of the Metal Gear license. If not for that it wouldn't have gotten the biased reviews of 8 out of 10. And it certainty wouldn't have sold. This game isn't just a bad Metal Gear IP, it's just a bad all around game.

But if you like it, more power to you. Don't let someones critisizim ruin the experience for you. Go on playing the game and just let everyone who doesn't like it continue to not like it. After all it's only a game. It's not like it's Shakespeare or something.

4/16/13 9:11am
They Call Me Th...: I think it all comes down to the undervaluing of voice actors and what they bring to the medium... There's no arguing that Splinter Cell and Hitman lost something special when their original voice actors were not brought back for their most recent installments.

Evil Ivan: Fucking loved this movie as a kid. Even back then I noticed Van Damme's habit of parading his posterior all the time.

4/6/13 12:12am
caboose_-1: I never realized it before, but yeah, Van Damme does show his ass in a lot of his movies. I'm almost surprised you did this one instead of his movie with his "twin", Double Dragon...I-I mean "Double Impact".
4/4/13 7:01am
They Call Me Th...: OOH-RAH! Nobody reviews action films quite like you... And to think if it weren't for Van Damme's lousy agent, Mortal Kombat would have never happened...

3/30/13 9:35pm
darkhyrulelord: If you took the Aliens license off of it then it probably wouldn't sell. It might not be as bad as everyone is saying it but I have a gut feeling that I won't like it.

Still, cool review!
3/20/13 10:32pm
caboose_-1: This is the first review I've seen of this game that talked about the merits of the game (and no, I don't count EGM's cruddy review). It's nice to see him split the review up based on how it is simply as an FPS as well as an Aliens game.
3/20/13 6:29pm
Evil Ivan: Either the license sank this game or the game failed its license.

I guess it's a chicken-or-egg sort of thing.

Ryujinjakka: Its alright...Nintendo's so called victory on the back of their own old and well know IPs is he sucking up to his favorite company, while forgetting that those casuals are not about to buy into the WiiU, because casuals dont care about new tech, but CHEAP tech, and the WIi was as innovative as it was expensive..so not at all IMO. Thats alright...

HE completely forgeting how MS threw away their own fans to try and get into Nintendo's ever so unfaitfull base of casuals, the absurdity of making your pay for online for something that is FREE in the concurrence (while not improoveing it to be at least on par with the paid service from said concurrence), and the more than absurd RRoD rates is he sucking up to MS...and thats alright too.

HE dishing Sony for their mistakes, their hubris and paying painfully for their mistakes this generation while forgetting their new IPs (some of witch became classics...Sony is the only company that made their 3rd installment in this industry with so many NEW IPs...thats courage for you, specially from a company that was taken as DOOMED to the haters...), the focus on getting better support to and from devs all gen and their constant improovement on their network services and being the better (well, at the very least, the more constant one...) console maker and gaming machine all around this gen is he being faithfull to his choices. And thats also alright......

Opinions, my friend, every one has one. And as I said, he's noted, accepted, and completely disregarded to me.

curlyhair0000: Don't forget Nvidia's Project Shield.
3/2/13 9:48pm
Ryujinjakka: Your pic says everything I need to now about your choices in gaming....

This gen was/is a all around mess. I just prefer to see the good points of all big 3 instead of praysing some (but completely FORGETING their mistakes for arguments sake) and hating another spelling the same FUD that was rampant for 7 years. IF thats being a fanboy, then yeah, lets get on with that.
3/2/13 3:58pm
caboose_-1: Kind of pointless to call someone a fanboy when you admit that you're one yourself.

MagnumMagnus: How about the Paper Mario series?
2/17/13 4:39pm
MadHero15: I've been wanting to play this game for a very long time. The SNES version was never released in Europe (for reasons I cannot possibly understand). The game is on the Virtual Console, so I should probably get it there.

Just wondering. If you've played them, what do you think of Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario series? Just wondering.

As always, Godspeed Razorfist

2/2/13 9:56am
alondite345: Mass Effect 3 isn't in first person.
2/2/13 7:31am
Museyfied: Yeah and I agree on that some promises weren't fulfilled, and that bugs me too thinking it could have been done better. Calling it "the worst game of the decade" just because of that though is insane.
2/2/13 2:37am
caboose_-1: I agree with you on most of this except the production values. Bioware really cut some corners in the game and they've been called out on it by fans. The big let down was that the choices didn't really matter for large parts of the game (i.e. cameos changing and the same basic events unrolling the same way not matter what). That being said, I enjoyed playing it and finishing the story I started out in the first game.
