SideSmash celebrates five years of being a g1.
5/21/13 10:24pm
Noble Team 1: Man 5 years is still hard to believe for me, though that also makes me think that I've also been missing out a lot since I wasn't a G1 till the end of V4. Though hopefully you'll be able to make great content for the coming years.
5/21/13 5:07pm
SideSmash: You are very welcome, Craig.
5/21/13 4:22pm
Craig: Thanks for being a great g1 for 5 years :) it's g1s like yourself that help make ScrewAttack what it is!

FrankHaggar: I love Cinemattack, thats a great concept and with great execution.

Noble Team 1: It's been some time since I've played Bioshock 2 and even then I thought it was a good game as I do think that it's does play better though Subject Delta does feel weaker than Jack though that might be due to the addition of the newer enemies, though I did enjoy the new arsenal more as the weapons in Bioshock 1 felt to standard, plus using the spear gun was the most fun to me. Though I the one thing I didn't like was the multiplayer myself due to the smaller size of most maps which was offputting to me, but nice job.

April 2nd, 2013: The Day the Music Genre Died.
3/24/13 4:31pm
Tiago: I liked Rock Band - well, played a little of it. But just couldn't buy all that stuff required to play it with. Sure hope the Next Gen finds a way to bring it back somehow (hey, kinect should be able to replace the whole band of objects).
But surely, as IGN brought it, the momentum of music games is long gone, and bands just didn't give a shit about it anymore (which means no licensed music).
3/24/13 1:58pm
neodrakan: the rhythm genre will always be alive, but all of those are niche games with very specific audiences.

Rock Band was the game that anyone can just pick up and play.Guitar Hero did it's job and properly introduced the genre to the mainstream audience, and Rock Band brought friends and families into living rooms and made them become rockstars for 3 minutes or several hours.

I enjoy DDR,DJMax Technika,Pop N' Music,Drummania, and other rhythm games but they're all niche titles and very intimidating for the average person, not to mention they're arcade only releases here in the states.
3/24/13 12:59pm
HeirAPPARENT310: Oh, I most DEFINITELY had a great time with Rock Band, and I still do. A local convention would hold a tournament that would get treated like a battle of the bands sort of thing. It went a little something like this for us...

PuppetMasterIX: The Rock Band Network service will continue on Xbox Live, but it will be discontinued on PS3, since the songs had to go through developer moderation to posted on PSN.

Zodia195: I was a kid when the original came out and it was one of the first games I beaten. So hell yeah I am sike! The downside is how you can get it. I don't have an online account for our X-Box. I wish they make it for the 3DS since it was a Nintendo game!

SideSmash searches far and wide to find the best example of choice in video games.
2/9/13 7:10pm
frankhaggar972: I like choices in Video games when it's with the gameplay, like Kirby games. Different powers on the same stage can be a new experience. Made think a lot, good job ^_^
2/9/13 6:41pm
darkhyrulelord: Awesome blog man! While I think that choices in games has improved for the most part, I still think that there can be room for some improvement. It would be neat if more games that had a "choose your own story" kind of mechanic would be used.
1/31/13 12:28pm
Zaloog: A very good read I do really enjoy choice in game though have found many as of late to be really narrowing.
1/30/13 7:38pm
Samuraispartan7000: Wow... I guess I'm not the only one that has this viewpoint! I literally just made a Gamer Tangent blog that discussed this very thing! I think you did it a lot better though. Mine was much more about how polar morality has become in choice driven games and how evil and good choices are really the only types of major decisions that are made in the game. With the exception being walking dead of course. But you actually offered some advice on how to make choice better! I certainly didn't do that. Great blog.
1/30/13 6:19pm
SideSmash: I'd honestly argue that Bioshock WAS a well-written linear game. The choice system just wasn't strong enough.

The Legendary Soldier is back.... WAIT, WHAT?!
6/20/12 2:33pm
Dark Magician: I've know MGS5 was coming and Revengeance was something new and fun that happens on the side. There was something said before that they wanted the real Big Boss in the game, now its cool they are bringing back Solid Snake. I believe it will take place before MGS4 in the timeline. Possibly go back before Shadow Moses Island. Possibly take us back when Solid Snake became Solid and fought Big Boss and supposively killed him. Yes, to give the old Metal Gear pixelated games the Fox Engine treatment. If they do or not, I'm still excited all the same.

Gaarathedancingpanda: I feel like Konami was gonna make the game regardless of Kojima's approval to make money. And Kojima, not wanting financial gain ruin his brainchild, decided to return to make sure the game was done at least half right.
