slimkirby13: the infection doesnt spread beyond the missippi river since zombies cant swim 2 the reason i think this is the backstory is because i got alot of my research from the official left dead site and even if this isn't right it's better than nothing because the game goes to the intro which saays 2 weeks after first infection meaning that the game gives us no backstory and i'm the only one focusing on that because i dont have the game

I think you got your "tl;dr" and body section mixed up, provide a reason why you think this is the backstory (you said you did research after all), and spell and grammar check.
As far as your theory goes, check a map in the DLC campaign Crash Course. There's a map showing military evacuations across the country. That may point to the infection spreading beyond the Mississippi River.
