TheEnglishman: I think the gaming community has matured in certain sections over time, but the fact remains that it can be very childish when it is challenged. Look at the reaction when someone says that games like Call of Duty should be praised, look at pathetic reaction to 'Tropes vs. Women in Video Games', look at how incredibly defensive some people get to anyone even suggesting that video games may not be art. If the video game community wants to truly achieve maturity, it needs to respond to criticism with level headed, well developed arguements, not whining and insulting others.
