This really is a problem with this gen.

Bonidex: The sims 2? Online? There's no online in that...

1/3/13 1:06am
EliteGamerX: Gotta make room for Madden '13, EA?
1/2/13 3:41pm
DerEverySixt: NBA Jam going offline? What the hell?
1/2/13 1:34pm
KurzWeber75: Sweet, as I just got NBA Jam off PSN yesterday, it only makes sense that I won't be able to play it online. You people truly disgust me

1/2/13 12:54pm
armodillo17: This is the short-sighted nature of games designed for online play. For the PC, the model makes more sense, because those don't ever really get replaced, just upgraded. But with console cycles, this is always going to happen.

It will change gaming if EA does so.
leojay: That honestly make no sense. You won't buy a game digitally because of PSN's down time? Makes sense.
Double-T: I'm not saying un-finished products. Your thinking along the lines of give a part of the mian game, give the ending later. I'm not saying that at all. There is my main counter, you not understanding my point.
I'm talking about all the stuff they do as DLC; stages, characters, costumes, game modes. Going digital will let companies hide that data in the inital download, and they can charge for the unlock codes later. Capcom does it already, I'm saying digital makes it easier to do this cause the data isn't locked on a disk.
Numbers example:
You download a game thats 5 gigs. The main game is 3 gigs, the multiplayer is 1 gig. That last gig is ALL the dlc that they charge you for later when you buy the unlock codes.
THATS what I'm saying, THATS what I think they will do. Pre-made DLC.

REVULSIVE: We've been going in this circular argument for a while now. I've given you plenty of examples and counter arguments and you've done absolutely nothing to convince me why going digital would allow them to release unfinished products. Either explain to me how and why that is or stop replying.
Double-T: Well then maybe I didn't make myself clear. I'm not saying companies will just make a unfinished game and do the rest of the main game as DLC, I'm saying going digital is an excuse to let companies do the minimum amount of work they can on a game. I fully understand you example, believe me I remember that story and I wouldn't want that either and I also believe the consumers are smart enough not to allow that to happen. I'm saying it can be used as an excuse to charge people to unlock material thats already in the innital download. It can allow companies to do the Disk Locked Content alot more easier. But again as I stated before I'm not a hacker so I don't know how easy/hard it is to check for that, if at all.
And it terms of sales, there are no special cases to a creator; a sale is a sale, a dollar is a dollar. Trust me they don't care, I work with them.

Crimson.: I'm for digital downloads, but the crappy DRM should not to be applied. Also them digital games must be priced right for me to buy them, I'm not comfortable paying $60 for a game I can potentially never play again due to server closure sometime down the line or some other absurd thing. I still prefer the physical copy.

Some good news for the next Saints Row, but some bad news for THQ.
Teanji: "We all agreed"
Oh piss off, no they didn't.
Oh piss off, no they didn't.
King Meatball I: THQ is really horrible with money if it costs them $20 million by cancelling a DLC pack even though that money could have been used to help fund Saints Row 4.
pre10do64: Aww, that's so sad their fiscal outlook is short 20 million dollars. We should all donate whatever we can in their great time of plight.
Shadx: They lost 20 million dollars because a single piece of DLC was cancelled? Did they really expect it to make THAT much?
Myth002: Has it really been that long since Saints Row the Third?

Nintendo dropped the ball pretty hard. Sony won for me. I want The Last of Us so bad.
Alpha Unit: I wasn't proud of Sony's actually...But we can all agree, Microsoft ruined itself
5/30/12 2:29pm
Yay more Ratchet And Clank.
Alpha Unit: I'd dip my balls in it. (I hope somebody gets the reference)

If so, Take-Two will be rolling in money.

G1_Bryce: GTA has a few hurdles to cross before I'm willing to consider buying it. I find most games like that I play through once and end up never playing again. Saints Row the Third is the exception because it's packed full of craziness, but even then the novelty wears off pretty quick
Teuras: GTA4 came out on relatively new consoles, a lot of potential gamers had not purchased xbox 360 or ps3 yet. It was probably the first or second game I had on ps3. Now pretty much everyone has a ps3 or xbox 360. Also the fact that GTA is a household name doesn't hurt the sales. It's not unrealistic at all but still a lot is yet to be revealed about the game. We'll see...
EDIT: You can see the effect of console upgrade if you compare the sales of San Andreas and GTA IV

dymck1: Yeah, it would make sense, I'm hearing a lot of people saying it will be a day one purchase. Makes sense.
Farmhouse: The M rating may harsh the sales a bit.
