Adam Sessler explains violent video games to Fox News
Just watch as "the Sess" schools Fox News on the relationship (or lack there of) between gun violence and video games.
Couldn't be happier to see someone so eloquently defending gaming in the public spectrum.
Always fair? I really doubt that considering their consistent political slant in a good deal of their news. They have some fair moments, but those are rare and not "always".
Great points made by the Sess. Glad we are trying to re-educate society that video games aren't just a pong and asteroids all-ages affair.
I think A LOT of people are notably biased towards video games. At least the people I know and work with.
lol I think all news media are evil...That's the media for you, man!
I know right? This why it really disappointed me to peoples hate for him, just because he was a part of X-play on G4. I'm not saying he is perfect, but I can tell that Adam really gives a shit about the industry that he works in, and that he truly does have valuable insight to share about not just gaming but human behavior in general.
Yes, Adam did a excellent job of really going into the nuances of this topic. Especially looking back in history on how societies looked for scapegoats point to as "easy buttons" for complex issues.
And I also appreciate how he brought up the need for our culture to reevaulate how we view the medium of gaming as a whole, and realize that it is NOT just a "child only" medium. And that there is a reason why the FUCKING ESRB exists...*puts down cup of rage* lol
And this was surprising a fair interview for Fox News, especially considering their track record while discussing the subject of video games...*cough* mass effect *cough*.
Adam, you are DAH MAN!
Good job Adam!
Nice explanation Sessler. I'm sure that they'll find a new scapegoat before long instead of games.
Video games unfortunately will have to do the cig pack thing. People know cigs are bad but now to protect from law suites there's all kinds of crap all over the pack and other ads. "cigarettes can cause cancer." Games may unfortuantly may need to go in exact details on their ratings. "Rated M for mature. Not recommended for under the age of 17, may cause those with the mental disability of knowing the line between game violence and real life violence to go on a rampage in public areas."
Wow! Really did an outstanding job explaining video games and how they are an escape goat for the public and there is no evidence connecting violent video games with violence.
This is what Video Games need...Adam Sessler. I would hate to see timid guys like geoff up there. Way-to-go Sessler !
Good going Adam :)
...holy crap. What did I just watch? Did I honestly just watch a fair discussion about a controversial topic? Are we sure that was a bit from Fox News and not someone just splashing the graphic over something else?
In any case, great job by the Sess in keeping it real and telling it like it is. Great piece.
Very satisfying to see someone represent games and gamers effectively. Didn't deflect the questions, he answered them, and hopefully enlightened some people.
moments like this remind me that he is only reason xplay was good, well morgan did help but barely
Big kudos to 'em both, poignant questions were raised and they were answered very fairly.
Jesus....I want to shake Adam's hand.
There is "fair", then there is blatantly lying and exaggerating facts in order to create shock value. This was fair.
Claiming Mass Effect 1 had graphic full-frontal nudity, and having people who never even heard of the game until that moment argue about how and why its so destructive, isn't.
No one is generalizing you or everyone as being evil, so stop being so god dang defensive over it. Fox has, on multiple occasions, been rather bias towards games in general, and for you to try and dismiss it as nothing more than "opinion lol" undermines the whole issue about it.
I'm not saying they are all bias against games, as this clearly proves they aren't to an extent. But to completely ignore the times they have been completely bias, is just utter ignorance,
