Adam Sessler explains violent video games to Fox News

1/31/13 11:32am

Just watch as "the Sess" schools Fox News on the relationship (or lack there of) between gun violence and video games.

Couldn't be happier to see someone so eloquently defending gaming in the public spectrum.

Great points made by the Sess. Glad we are trying to re-educate society that video games aren't just a pong and asteroids all-ages affair.

Yes, Adam did a excellent job of really going into the nuances of this topic. Especially looking back in history on how societies looked for scapegoats point to as "easy buttons" for complex issues.

And I also appreciate how he brought up the need for our culture to reevaulate how we view the medium of gaming as a whole, and realize that it is NOT just a "child only" medium. And that there is a reason why the FUCKING ESRB exists...*puts down cup of rage* lol

And this was surprising a fair interview for Fox News, especially considering their track record while discussing the subject of video games...*cough* mass effect *cough*.

Nice explanation Sessler. I'm sure that they'll find a new scapegoat before long instead of games.

Video games unfortunately will have to do the cig pack thing. People know cigs are bad but now to protect from law suites there's all kinds of crap all over the pack and other ads. "cigarettes can cause cancer." Games may unfortuantly may need to go in exact details on their ratings. "Rated M for mature. Not recommended for under the age of 17, may cause those with the mental disability of knowing the line between game violence and real life violence to go on a rampage in public areas."

Wow! Really did an outstanding job explaining video games and how they are an escape goat for the public and there is no evidence connecting violent video games with violence.

I know right? This why it really disappointed me to peoples hate for him, just because he was a part of X-play on G4. I'm not saying he is perfect, but I can tell that Adam really gives a shit about the industry that he works in, and that he truly does have valuable insight to share about not just gaming but human behavior in general.
