Evolution is key if you want to survive in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

1/23/14 8:10pm

Square Enix’s doomsday hype train for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is nearing the station and with that in mind, the studio has released yet another trailer, this time to give fans a much deeper look into the game’s battle system.

According to the trailer, this system will run in real-time and the battles will be fast-paced, so learning the proper timing for attacks, guard stances, and counters will be crucial if you plan on not getting killed. So it’s a good thing it also gives a few subtle hints on how to nail this timing correctly.

Speaking of tips and tricks, the developers also wanted to make it as clear as possible that mastering the all-new character customization options will be a must if players want to have any sort of leg up on the dark forces of the pending apocalypse. Every weapon, piece of armor, and article of clothing will have their own unique benefits and drawbacks when it comes to fighting certain enemies, so the customization is much deeper than the game of dress up fans may have previously believed.

The Final Fantasy XIII saga will finally come to an end on February 11, when Lightning Returns is released for Xbox 360 and PS3.

And remember it pays to think strategically, so be sure to dress accordingly!
