Fractional Games, the studio behind the critically acclaimed point-and-click/survival horror hybrid Amnesia: The Dark Descent, has released the very first gameplay footage of its upcoming sci-fi inspired horror title SOMA.
The game is centered around the PATHOS-2 research facility, which has been sent into a state of disarray (which is putting it mildly) when the machines develop a mind of their own and begin to take over the lab. You play as someone who appears to be a research subject trying to escape but the only way out is said to be “unthinkable.”
As far as the content of the gameplay footage is concerned, well you see some pretty messed up stuff once you wake up out of your hospital bed. I don’t want to spoil what that messed up stuff is but this quote from the development team sums it up nicely:
“The brain has left the jar... I won't say much about the demented first look into the world of SOMA. You just need to watch.”
SOMA will be available for PC and PS4 in 2015.
