Go EF yourself because the MUGEN 3D fighting game engine is now available

12/2/13 8:00pm

For years now, M.U.G.E.N. has been the game to go to see Super Saiyan Goku take on Omega Tom Hanks and all kinds of ridiculous battles. MUGEN however could not satisfy particular types of audiences out there because the game was only based on a 2D fighting system. Those players' desires will finally be realized now with the updated release of MUGEN's spiritual successor, EF-12!

EF-12 is a 3D-based fully customizable fighting game engine that's been impressing many eager creators since early September...well those that could understand and go through the Japanese-heavy documentation. With this new release, now a wider array of users can use the engine as the developers would claim "any way they want". This claim has already been put through the test, as others have tried to arrange the game to make it a 2.5D game, only to find some trouble making it possible. The development team admits that yes, this is primarily a 3D fighter based around games like Virtua Fighter and Tekken, but with enough tinkering with the engine's coding, a creator can change any aspect they want and thus make it a game like Street Fighter IV.

If you're still interested after checking out the new trailer, you can check it out here if you wish to pick up the 443 MB download for free: http://playism-games.com/games/ef12/

The download may be free, but the developers also implemented a "pay what you want" option for those who wish to express their gratitude in financial contributions. Don't feel pressured to contribute though out of obligation. Onaguchi, one of the main creators, has gone on to state:

"I already live in a nice house and work at a good job. I just want people to love EF-12, create for it, and share it. It would make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside".

Well Onaguchi better be prepared to feel as warm and fuzzy as an alpaca on a warm summer's day, because not long before demonstrating the updated game engine, the EF-12 team received an email from the team behind the increasingly-popular Salty Bets, issuing an interest in using EF-12 alongside MUGEN in their betting stream system. With this information, you can bet that in the near future, EF-12 will be the 3D circuit of internet fake betting..with all bets still being put on Omega Tom Hanks whenever..that thing steps into either ring.

Comment Question: So who here has any plans to at least try out this new customizable game engine? For those that do, what's the first thing(s) you plan on creating and(or) implementing?
