The only term I think I ever use for my self is geek and beer snob. But only as a last ditch effort to explain quickly my personal likes. I never use "gamer" I just say, "I enjoy playing video games". It's funny how after the 90's internet boom it was cool and acceptable to be a computer nerd. Playing video games has slowly worked its way into acceptance for decades but really hit general public acceptance with the PS2 and Xbox. And not finally being a socially awkward nerd is becoming acceptable. Though one show isn't going to change the world. But it is push in the right direction.

I am a bit weirded out about the whole, "I'm cool because I like 'uncool' things." Seems like that is the under current that is driving the nerd/geek world into the spotlight of general public acceptance.
