Hm. This game may be better than I first thought.

I can't get exited for this, the five past games made a solid story; now there going back and adding elements that previously were never mentioned.
Zetra3
Chains of Olympus takes place before the first game as well
TheTrueChuster
God of War 1 trough 3, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. I think he´s mentioning those 5.
Zetra3
He did, but that's not the point. He stated a game "Before" then that adds new stuff that ever never previously mentioned.. but that's exactly what Chain's of Olympus did to the first and Second God of War. Plus it stated several time that Kratos has had MANY missions before the event of god of war 1.

Yes I think it's generally implied that Kratos did loads of stuff for Aries before he broke free of his grasp. I think the point he is trying to make however is that those 5 games cover much of the GoW lore and we were hoping the story would be finished so we could move on to better, more innovative things. Ascension doesn't really add anything substantial to the story. It's just further cashing in on the IP.
Zetra3
True enough, but fun game is a fun game and i wont complain. though the addition of multi-player greatly upsets me, ill live and so will my wallet. And i expected a squeal with how the last game ended, and it was totally building for it that and you don't leave a series off like that.

Ascension tells the story of how he lost his family and went mad. That's pretty substantial.
bjncube
Actually it's not about how he lost his family. It's about how he broke his oath with Ares and gained the power and will to take revenge. But if I've already been on a 3 game adventure to see someone take revenge I don't really care about all the specific details of how he ultimately gained the will to do it especially after it's been touched on in previous story anyway. And I'm obviously not the only person who feels that way. At least Halo had the decency to start another story. This is just throwing slices of ham onto a bacon and pork chop sandwich. After a while people get tired of pig!!

Yeah thats my point, I just didn't make myself so clear. And to my knowledge the two PSP games are referenced in GoW II and III. As for the gamplay, the games (even though sometimes repetitive) had consistency in what Kratos could do combat wise; now he can do stuff never seen before. I will probably check it out eventually, but my hopes aren't high.
