A couple weeks back, Level-5 not so subtly teased
a western release for the Professor Layton
spin-off Layton Brothers: Mystery Room
. Well, not only can we report that this is in fact what the developer was teasing but it’s also available on a number of iOS platforms right now!
In case you need a bit of refresher, Mystery Room is quite different from your standard Layton game and is actually more akin to games like Ace Attorney. The game stars rookie Scotland Yard detective Lucy Baker and her partner, the genius Inspector Alfendi Layton (the Professor’s son) and instead of solving quirky mysteries involving spectors, magic, and time travel through delightful brainteasers, Hershel’s kid is solving murder cases by searching for clues and interviewing suspects. So expect this Layton to delve into some darker territory.
The game’s first two Case Files are available free of charge, although you’ll have to buy a pair of bundles to download the rest. Case Pack 1 (Case Files 3-6) is $2.99 and Case Pack 2 (Case Files 7-9) is $1.99.
So if you own a compatible iOS device and enjoy the Layton series or a good mystery, perhaps you should give this game a shot. I mean the first two cases are free after all, so you certainly wouldn’t have much to loose, expect time I guess.
Layton Brothers: Mystery Room is compatible with the following iOS devices:
iPhone 3GS and later
iPod Touch 4 and later
first-generation iPad and later
