Meet the agents of Overstrike 9 in these new Fuse character trailers

3/2/13 7:40pm

EA has released four new character trailers for developer Insomniac Game’s first multiplatform title Fuse, and while it’s tone is darker than it was originally intended to be, this appears to be an Insomniac game through and through.

While Fuse does indeed share a few obvious traits with other shooters, it seems to be setting itself apart from other games in the genre quite nicely with a great use of co-op, creatively unique weapons, interesting characters, and a quick whit.

In all honesty, I still prefer the style of the original Overstrike trailer but Insomniac’s take on the “gritty realistic shooter” appears to be a solid game all it’s own and I’m actually looking forward to it now, which is something I didn’t think I’d be saying.

While Dalton’s trailer can be seen above, I’ve provided links to the other three:

Naya (I think she’s going to be my favorite because that black hole gun is awesome!)

Fuse is expected to launch on the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime within the next few months.

I liked the original style better.

However the characters remind me of the characters in Binary Domain.

Only complaint is that there is no PC version that would allow people to mod the game to have the character models be the Overstrike ones.

Sooooo, the point of this game is to hide behind a mobile shield until you get to a cutscene? Anything else going on?

Seen them all on IGN already. I want to like this, but this has developed into a wait and see rather than a day one release for me.

So, we traded a smartass leader who does whatever he wants to complete a mission, over hardass leader who does whatever he wants to complete a mission. Not saying he's a bad "new" character, but I've seen this type in other games and would of far prefered the smartass. :P

Edit: So, after a refresher of watching overstrike leader over fuse one... Well the OS leader seems to break protocol often, while the Fuse leader, even though talks ****, doesn't like to go beyond protocol. So yeah, overstrike leader better. :P

You're not the only one who prefers the original style, but this doesn't look that bad. It's nice to know there's still some humor in there.
