Windwaker may have some minor flaws like the ludicrous amount of sailing and some boring completion things but it is still a lot of fun with its dungeons and such. Plus it has Ganondorf, so automatically it gets my approval.

I bought it a couple weeks ago, and I kind of regret it once WWHD was announced. Never played it before likewise, being the only console Zelda game I never played. I like it a lot so far, but I have similar gripes.

I really enjoyed the sailing in this game, even when I was younger and a much more impatient, less appreciative gamer than I am today. I never thought about games as a way to relax or a sense of scope or really why certain games did what they did in terms of their design. I just played them and if it was boring or frustrating, I usually got... well... bored or frustrated rather quickly, without thinking about how such elements might be beneficial for the experience in the long run. So you'd think I would've hated the sailing, but really I didn't. I was never interested in pirates or anything that has to do with this, either but for some reason I loved running into those random rafts, killing the bad guys on em and grabbing their rupees or finding those random small islands and exploring them. I've never been a completionist and preferred quick, linear, guided experiences over exploration but still, in this game I had to grab every treasure on the bottom of the sea, feed every one of those fish to complete my map, etc. There was just something magical about the Wind Waker's sailing element that drew me in. And sometimes I did nothing but sailing to random locations for hours; even after I acquired the warp I often didn't use it at all,

That said, I hated the flying in Skyward Sword :3
