Square Enix's Yuji Abe shows us the combat from Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns
Square Enix sent us this video of Yuji Abe, the game director for Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns, as he shows off the new battle system. It looks familiar to the Paradigm Shifts from its predecessor, mixed with the Dress Sphere from X-2. Each classes outfit can also be customized by altering various colors in the armor. Get ready for the upcoming launch of this final installment in the trilogy on February 11th for Xbox 360 and PS3.

I dont know why Square Enix feels the need to over-complicate their games. If it's a one player combat game, why not make it like Kingdom Hearts? That game had a very good yet simple fighting style that didn't have 5 different gauges plus a whole bunch of text on the screen, you selected attack and you swung your sword, easy enough. At least they did away with "Auto-Battle" from XIII.
I'm starting to be swayed but not enough to get me to pre-order. While I like the battle system and the customization, I still need at least two questions answered: how do you level up Lightning and her armors, and will there be a downloadable demo out before it gets released?
Will get this day one...no, will i get this game one day...yes
I'v always liked XIII and XIII-2 and I'm just loving the looks of the battle system, my only concern is all the bloody costume dlc rubbish, if it was just for the looks it be fine but judging from the gameplay it's vital to your performance in battle.
This game looked VERY good in the beginning, I'm still very excited about the more free gameplay, but I'm not too into the whole costumes thing.
I'm sort of the opposite. I think the more I see, the more I get turned off by it. I shouldn't let the past games affect my decision but it's just so hard not to. I would definitely like to hear from others who do get to play it before I truly make a decision.
I find it increasingly harder to prevent myself from purchasing this game.
