Warner Bros. Animation has released the first trailer for Batman: Assault on Arkham feature film
Get ready to root for the bad guys?
Two months after announcing a straight-to-DVD animated film based on the Batman: Arkham universe would be released later this year, Warner Bros. Animation has given fans their first look at the feature in the form of a debut trailer.
In Batman: Assault on Arkham, The Joker has taken over the asylum (again or for the first time? I dunno where this places on the timeline) and has a dirty bomb planted somewhere in Gotham City, which he can detonate at any given time. So as per-usual, Batman has been called in to put an end to "The Clown Prince of Crime's" evil scheme and restore order.
However, in a typical act of government over-reach, federal agent and all-round badass Amanda Waller has gone over Commissioner Gordon's head to give "The Caped Crusader" some unexpected and likely unwanted back-up in the form of the super villains turned Black-Ops Corp, Task Force X, A.K.A. The Suicide Squad!
Now this is a set up I can get behind. Not only will it be interesting to see how Batman and this ragtag group of rouges he has a long history with approach their end goal of stopping Joker, it'll also be interesting to see where the allegiance of one Harley Quinn truly lies.
WB hasn't given a release date but Q4 is the most probable time of year since Rocksteady's final entry in the series, Arkham Knight, will be hitting up PS4, Xbox One, and PC in October. Cross-promotion between the two studios would be ideal.
