"I'm going to choke the next person that calls it a smash clone"

"It looks like smash it plays like smash the concept is like smash"

"Who care's if it's a clone"

In all honesty those statement contradict each other. Oh and to go back to your first episode you reference there is such a thing a false equivilency

Thank you! I'm glad to see that there are decent people out there who can provide valid counter augments to all of dumb popular believes.

A Zero 2 Hero

If I may, I would like to add another problem that bugged me particularly about E3:

Besides Watch_Dogs, E3 didn't have that many surprises in store and thus a lot of hype was lost. The main reason for this happening is because before E3 even started, there were so many articles, leaks, interviews etc. about the stuff to be featured in the show from all these news outlets etc. Following up on your Video Game Christmas analogy, that's like sneaking to the tree on midnight Christmas Day, opening the presents and finding out what they are, re-wrapping and putting them back like nothing happened, and then the morning a few hours later you're given the presents and are expected to be totally surprised.

Hence I suggest that media show a little restraint when it comes to revealing such things, especially around the big show weeks. It's a bit challenging to avoid temptation of ratings, but I think the overall joy of the many will beat the squees of the few.

Other than that, not a particularly bad rant. Nothing new, but rationally intelligent nonetheless.

I really enjoyed listening to this because while you are indeed an opinionated individual, you are still able to look at things in a more objective view, the bigger picture pretty much and I really don't see many others who are like that in general. Ever since E3 I've been reading a bunch of articles and comments that have really bothered me also, which is why I started writing articles on here also, first talking about rip offs then about Nintendo not revealing the complete hardware specs of the Wii U. More and more gamers are turning into whiners and it's frankly extremely annoying and just makes me want to reach through my computer and give those people a good smack on the head :P

That's one of the reasons I don't play online all that often. Call me a hermit if you (not you literally) must, but gaming is a lot more enjoyable when you do it with people you care about.

I get you, I hardly play online also. I mean, I even have a hard time doing local multiplayer because I don't know that many people who enjoy the same games I do. Plus it's far more satisfying for me to play through a game that sucked me in and gave me a compelling (or thrilling) experience that I won't forget than to kill another person through the barrel of a gun or winning a race.
